One of my early formative experiences in life was a Mille-feuille. It may have been called a Napoleon but it was also technically Mille-feuille. It was at @cafemimosatopanga
at least two decades ago, probably more. Cafe Mimosa was really close to the house I grew up in. I would be there sometimes, with my parents, other kids and families from the environs. There was a very green pond with a fountain and those water skimming bugs. I think there were fuschias. And there was deliciousness. But then one day i never went there again, moved away...I’m glad to see the cafe still exists, i wonder if they are still selling napoleons/Mille-feuilles and introducing neighborhood children to a certain concept of perfection....I recreated the taste memory with an exactness that makes me doubt myself. I know I’ve had at least a mille-feuille or two since my early childhood, but I feel like it’s still that taste that I have in my mind, that I’m searching for in all other mille-feuilles....or is it not the taste but the essential sensuality of the experience, the delicate but still very crunchy puff pastry juxtaposed with the silky richness of the cream with accents of the sharp sweetness of the fondant frosting. It’s got everything a pastry needs to knock the socks off a six year old and create a deep enduring affection for the basics of french pastry...now all I need are some six year olds to test mine on. I’m certainly happy with it ❤️❤️❤️🤪 #pastry #foodforthought #bakersofinstagram #fooddiary #foodporn #foodphotography #foodwriting #pastryblog #pastryblogger #patisserie #millefeuille #patisseriefrancaise #childhood #yum #tasty #delicious #dessert #baker #fromscratch #selftaught #pastrychef #pastryhomeschool
•Bước 2: chờ tới phần mình, cho ít ớt xắt, nhớ chan 3 muống canh nước mắm (cô già già dặn) he
•Bước 3: bê đến bàn mà đã xí trước rồi thưởng thức he
•Bước 4: ăn xong về sẽ đi ngang qua cô già già để tính tiền he
🌲Đa số mn đều thích ăn, dễ ăn lắm, nước mắm pha lạt chua chua nên chan nhiều để ăn mới đã, nhớ cho ít ớt tăng vị cay cho ấm khi lên Đà Lạt he
🌲Ờm mà còn bán gỏi lòng gà nữa ha, ngon lắm he, chừng 4 người gọi thêm 1 dĩa ăn kèm chung thì ok nè, chứ ít hơn ăn hông nổi đâu :))
🌲Điểm trừ là đôi lúc quá đông chờ mệt và hôm trước cô già già tính tiền mình, mình ăn có 3 tô, cổ nhìn camera thấy bàn nào đó có dĩa gỏi tưởng bàn mình nói xạo pla pla nên lúc thối tiền có tờ 100k rách làm đôi dán lại bằng keo trong mình đổi lại cổ hông cho, cổ nói tiền này chẳng làm sao tiền cổ làm ăn chân chính xài đi :((( nghĩ lại hôm sau cũng thuê xe máy đi rồi cần đổ xăng nên kệ, làm ầm ỉ chẳng làm gì, mất lòng, giận ghê gớm :((
Giận vậy chứ hôm sau vẫn ăn vì thèm :)))
Địa chỉ: 15F Tăng Bạt Hổ, Đà Lạt
‼️40k/phần đầy đủ ăn no nê
KAI XIANG SEAFOOD RESTAURANT | Another culinary institution in Jurong East, this cze char eatery has been in business for decades and is located in the same coffeeshop as Joo Siah Bak Kut Teh.
It attracts a predominantly dinner crowd with the usual cze cha fare and one of the signature dishes you'll see on most tables is the oyster omelette ($10/14/18).
It's easy to see why. The dish is incredibly generous with their oysters. Even the smallest $10 portion is full of large soft juicy oysters — we counted at least 15, which means that each oyster is less than $1 each.
Even though the omelette and oysters are cooked separately, the fried omelette underneath is soft and enveloping, with a nice egg-rich savoury taste with lots of chopped spring onions inside.
The hei zho (prawn roll, and $10/14/18) is the other must-have favourite as each piece is impressively huge — about the size of a golfball. Filled with big chunks of prawns, fishcake, chopped Chinese celelry and carrots, every bite is juicy, has a nice vegetable crunch, along with a pleasant seafood savouriness.
The rest of the dishes are standard cze char fare which is fairly well done but nothing to shout about. #oysteromelette
