For the love of Buba! A friend of ours who had left Sri Lanka about a decade back came down and the first place she wanted to party party was down the mount beach stretch. Why not Buba when there were already many memories made down there! The nostalgia was real. We ordered Hot Butter Cuttlefish ( and repeated this order many a times that night!), Kangkung, Buba special mixed rice and cheese omlet per standard order. The rice ofcourse was nothing to write home about but now for a person who has been away from Sri Lankan-ized Chinese, this was heaven on earth. The rice wasn't even long grain, it was plain samba but to hell with that, the Sri lankan chinese flavor was spot on. It had quite the share of meat in it though not a single prawn. The rest was pure mastery of Sri Lankan Chinese. The kangkung was on the salty side but perfectly garlic-y. The cheese omlet was well spiced with pepper, salt, chilli flakes, bell peppers, tomato and on top were neatly cut rectangles of happy cow cheese slices. It was a really really nice cheese omlet. Not your usual appearance but certainly tastes better than your usual. N now comes the winner the hot butter cuttlefish. The first 3 portions we ordered were the most flavorful, well peppered, well spiced, perfectly crunchy, lightly battered hot butter cuttlefish. These portions were huge and was well worth the money. There was way more cuttlefish than the onions and chillies and the remaining onions provided an extra spiciness to it. This well executed dish was becoming the must have through out by this time and a 4th portoon was orderd. Alas, that did not come equally excellent. It lacked salt and the spicy kick. So consistency may be an issue here but we have absolutely no complaints for we are thankful for the good vibes and the hearty food provided.
