How do you deal with cravings? You satisfy them!
I think with a lot of my dishes I really just focus on what tastes good. Food should feed the soul not just your body. And I think that’s the key to longevity and long term lifestyle change. Otherwise it just feels like a chore, right?
So when I create recipes I think of all the dishes I love, deconstruct them and rebuild them to satisfy my paleo/whole 30 needs. I’ve even been able to do this with a lot of the Filipino dishes I grew up eating and that’s priceless in my book.
You don’t need to sacrifice the things you love to eat the foods you “should.” You just need to get a little creative and that’s half the fun!
Cliff Notes: I had the most random craving for Taco Bell so I just made my own! Taco seasoned organic ground beef, avocado pico de gallo and chipotle lime crema...
TACO SEASONING |
1 tbsp. Dried Onions
1 tsp. Chili Powder, Sea Salt, Paprika, Garlic Powder, Cumin
1/2 tsp. Oregano
1/4 tsp. Cayenne Pepper, Black Pepper (optional)
CHIPOTLE LIME CREMA | 1 single serving cup @kitehillfoods
plain yogurt, zest of 1 lime, 1/2 tsp dried minced garlic, 1/4-1/2 tsp. chipotle pepper chili powder, Hawaiian sea salt. Try and let it marinate for at least 1 hour.
AVOCADO PICO DE GALLO | 6 vine roma tomatoes, 2 large avocados, 3 pressed garlic cloves, 1/2 minced red onion, 1 whole jalapeño w/ seeds, cilantro, plenty of sea salt, 1 lime zest/juice.
