We all have those nights where we either don’t feel like cooking or don’t have time. After getting the kid’s homework done we all decided to go for a walk/run/dirt bike adventure and when we got back home it was 7:30. Thankfully I already had shredded chicken in the fridge so I topped a bed of greens with it and added red onion, avocado, sauerkraut, micro-greens, @tessemaes lemon dressing and then I drizzled a little tahini on top (after I snapped this picture). For the kids I boiled @eatbanza chickpea noodles and topped it with a jar of @kirkland.signature_ marinara sauce! Lately I've been replacing "I'm sorrys" with "Thank yous!" Like instead of "I'm sorry that I'm running late." Say "Thank you for waiting for me!" and "Thank you for your patience." or instead of "Sorry for being such a mess today." I'll say "Thank you for loving me, and caring about me unconditionally." and it not only shifts the way I feel about myself, but it also improves my relationships with others who now get to receive my gratitude instead of negative energy.
My favorite thing to do is go to restaurants and order what sounds good and then try and figure out how to make healthy versions of it! Today I give you my take on a ahi tuna burger I had in June. I created: 1 hamburger bun that I placed in the toaster oven so it would be warm 1/2 of a avocado sprouts 1 shmear of @primalkitchenfoods garlic aioli mayo (I hate mayo and garlic but damn this was good!) And tuna (duh) Served with a side of air fried French fries and it took about 15 minutes to prep and cook and then 5 minutes to clean up 😋 I love recipes like that 😍

⇩ WHY I EAT BIG BREAKFASTS ⇩ recently i’ve gotten in the habit of taking the time to make a big, filling breakfast before i start my day (or after a morning workout). i know some people swear by IF and other plans where you limit intake in the morning, but i’ve found that having a big breakfast, a medium sized lunch and a lighter dinner whenever possible has been so much better for me, for the following reasons! -it makes sure i’m fueled properly for anything i need to do before lunch -it keeps me full until i get the chance to eat lunch and curbs mindless snacking -it stops me from the bad habit of restricting all day in preparation for a big dinner only to binge before/at/after dinner -it doesn’t make sense to me to have the biggest meal of the day only a couple hours before bed -i just LOVE breakfast foods (especially carbs like oatmeal/toast/weetabix) so eating a lot of them starts my day off very happy :-) → just a few of the reasons i’m going to try to make big breakfasts a habit this year 🙌🏼 (also pictured is cinnamon/vegan butter/agave toast and apples with cinnamon which was one half of my breakfast a while ago🤤) what do y’all think? big or small bfasts? 💚🔥🙏🏼

First round of mid terms and my head is spinning❕If I’m being completely honest today was not the best day... My classes are hard, I didn’t get much sleep last night, and to top it off I had a pop quiz I was not prepared for. I’m trying my best to stay positive, which is difficult to do in the midst of exam season. Last semester I spent most of my time with my head buried in texts books, worrying about my grades. Yes, grades are important but so is your mental health. If you look at the big picture grades wont matter in the long run. School can be overwhelming, but you can’t forget about the important things like relationships, your own well being, and even laughter. Take a break from studying, do something you love, and take a deep breath! YOU GOT THIS. ~ ps sorry for the motivational rant but I hope it helps my fellow college peeps. ✌🏼 • • • Tonight’s din➡️ Roasted Brussels sprouts, @hopefoods black garlic hummus, sprouts, roasted Japanese sweet potato, @applegate turkey breast, and corn on the cob with @fourthandheart ghee! I'm always on a mission to find the best cheeze sauces. This 'cheezy' cauliflower wasn't half bad! Cauliflower is high in vitamin C and phytonutrient sulforaphane, which may act as an antioxidant. Cut up cauliflower 40 minutes before you cook it and sprinkle with mustard powder to keep the enzyme that produces sulforaphane in tact after cooking. 🌿🥦

I got a hippie veggie bowl with schiracha tofu & buttered broccoli + a sunny side up egg while husband went for the Bokbok bowl which is pork & chicken. Sarap! I used to think that food was the enemy. ⤵️ I used to think that when eating certain food, i would have to work it off afterwards with a tough workout. ⤵️ I used to think that less food was better for my body because food could make me gain weight. ❌❌❌ Then i found a workout program that came with a meal plan. It took the guessing out of my eating and i knew what i needed to fuel my body. It didn’t happen overnight but i realized that food is not the enemy & i was doing it all wrong— the structure of a program really helped me find my life again ♥️ Can you relate? I knew if I wanted to get better, healthier and recover, I had to gain my healthy weight back, and that honestly truly terrified me. . Today, I am at my healthy weight, I'm within my healthy BMI. I've got the energy of a 5 year old kid. I can walk again, I can laugh again without getting out of breath, I'm back in the gym (because I've always been an active girl) and I can actually workout with a heap of energy, I'm gaining my muscles back, and I look and feel healthier than I ever have been. I can go out, with family and friends, I can function like a normal human being again. How? Because I gained weight. . A scale cannot measure your worth, your happiness, your achievements, your talents, your beauty, your purpose. It can only measure your relationship with gravity. Bam. That's it. . Being at a healthy weight, feels so much better, and will bring you so much more, than your eating disorder will and your low weight ever will. You'll smile brighter, laugh louder, you'll feel better, you'll be healthier and you'll be able to do everything you used to do. . Gaining weight is okay. Your body needs to be within a certain healthy range to function. When you gain, you will beat your eating disorder and you will recover. You'll be able to do EVERYTHING again. Think of it as gaining yourself back. You are not a number on a scale. You are 98573949374394839447 times more, than numbers. I believe in all of you. You got this, you can do this. How do you track your progress everyday? How do you guys stay in tune with your daily calorie needs? - I gave nutrition talks all day to future Army leaders at #sfasu , and the main theme for the talks were to be mindful of the number of calories your body needs to fuel your activities and to help you achieve your goals, aesthetic and performance based. - I use an @polarglobal M600 watch. i like my men how i like this salmon: well-dressed, spicy, and cut 🏋🏽‍♂️💦 - - wild-caught salmon seasoned with @justspices_usa mediterranean herb sea salt, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper, oregano, turmeric, and lemon zest. seared in avocado oil, and finished with a little grass-fed butter and lemon juice - eaten with: steamed buttery green beans, @rightfoods quinoa and lentil mix, and sautéed garlicky mushrooms. the most satisfying dinner i’ve had in a while. but like, if a man would’ve cooked this for me, it would’ve been better 💯 #coconuttyandnice

today was not the best of days. last night, i got a fever late at night 🤒 it kept me up most of the night and it lasted all day today. i pretty much spent my entire day on the couch, wearing tons of layers because i was freezing cold ☃️ it got me thinking and i wanted to share with you: 1️⃣ i was supposed to be fasting today for the jewish holiday of yom kippur. for some reason, even though i was very sick, i felt so bad for not fasting on such an important and holy day. yom kippur is considered the holiest day of the year for the jewish people. i decided to read an article on @chabadorg which made me feel a little better. i wanted to share a quote from the article “the healthy person fulfills a mitzvah (good deed) by fasting; the ill person does a mitzvah by eating.” this quote made me think of all the different #faddiets i come across on social media that are all promoting weight loss. in my opinion, food should be considered fuel. every time we eat should be an opportunity to nourish our bodies. instead of focusing on #calories and #macros , let’s focus on how the foods that we eat can give us energy, make us strong 💪🏻 and help us accomplish our goals. 2️⃣ being this sick makes me so grateful to be healthy majority of the time. to have the energy to move my body, to feed it properly and to be able to live my incredibly fortunate life. tonight, i am so thankful for my healthy body what are you thankful for? xx #calynbrooke
