We tested a couple of Kellogg's products (Froot Loops and Kashi GoLean Original), and the results were not pretty. Weedkiller-laced, pesticide-producing GMO corn in your food. If that corn were on the shelf at Home Depot, it would have a label on it with an EPA pesticide registration number, as do all of the other pesticides on the shelf. But because the EPA has no jurisdiction over food labeling, Kellogg's is feeding children glyphosate-laced and pesticide-producing GMOs without their parents’ knowledge or consent. Help us grow the boycott - don't forget Kellogg's-owned Pringles, Bear Naked, Keebler, Kashi, Cheezits, Morningstar Farms, Gardenburger & Girl Scout Cookies! Yes, Kellogg's is one of two processors for Girls Scout Cookies. Tell Kellogg's why you're not buying it - they need to hear from you. I may not have abs anymore but my gosh am I happy 🌞 .
I use to base my opinion of myself by the number on the scales or if my ab lines were showning. I use to get so down when I would eat off track and would end up binging on the weekends. To 'make up' for the binge, I would then restrict myself all week and the cycle would continue. .
These days, I eat whatever I want, when I want. I treat myself daily and no longer binge. I eat a wholefood based diet and really do live by the 80/20 rule. I believe that balance is key to feeling my best. I do not believe in diets. Our bodies need fuel to function optimally. We need good sources of carbs for energy and glycogen stores, we need healthy fats in our diet as they are an important structural compent of our cells and help with our brain function and we need protein from our diet, as protein provides a structural and functional role in every cell within the body. .
When we are depriving our bodies of the micronutrients it needs, it is unable to function at its full potential. As I study, I learn more and more everyday about the importance of good nutrition and fueling the body and what bad nutrition and deprivation can do, so when I don't see abs or the scales says a number I don't like, I do not get down anymore. I embrace it and know that I am eating good nutritional dense foods with a few treats here and there AND my mind and my body are both happy 🌟. .

Fiz com 1 banana e meia e 30g de frutas vermelhas congeladas, 4 morangos frescos, suco de 1 limão rosa, 2 CS de biomassa de banana verde, gotinhas de essência de baunilha e 1 sachê de proteína vegetal com sabor de frutas vermelhas. Por cima tem mais morango, mirtilo e mix de castanhas e sementes.

As you will have already noticed, most of the oils are similar in caloric quantity per 15ml (1 tablespoon). What this graphic may illustrate though, is the density of calories (mainly fat) per volume of oil. Therefore an unmeasured ‘drizzle’ of oil prior to cooking or over cooked food could climb into the hundreds in terms of calories.
If fat loss is the goal, given the calorie density of most cooking oils, it may be a better idea to use low calorie cooking sprays, or better yet - a good quality non-stick pan which requires no oil. If you prefer oils or butter, consume oils or butter. But whatever your decision, be informed if you want to monitor/change body composition.
Touching briefly on health and
function; consumption of olive oil has been unanimously proven to improve heart health due its monounsaturated property - especially when consumed in its original form. Whilst the likes of coconut oil and butter consist mostly of saturated fat, reliable studies implicate that moderate consumption of either appears to be benign in terms of overall health.
As for the others, there simply isn’t any concrete meta analysis yet of their long term effect on human health. If you enjoy them, my advice would be to consume them in moderation and avoid excessive consumption.

DIGITAL DETOX // so, I struggle juggling lots of things at one point in time and I often invest ALL my energy in one area... it’s a work in progress to overcome this and find my own happy balance. Do you often find that you need a digital detox every now and then?
It is that time of year again, the holidays are a distant memory, the kids are all back at school. (Phew!!) As wonderful as the summer months are, it becomes more challenging to stay focused on your diet and exercise regime.
I try very hard to live a healthy balanced lifestyle. I eat well and exercise daily. HOWERVER, if I am perfectly honest the holidays have taken their toll on me. I enjoyed a few extra glasses of wine, my food choices were not always perfect and fitting in plenty of exercise was tricky. Regaining control for me is not about jumping on the new latest food fad, chugging down carrot juice, meal replacements and food supplements in the hope I drop a dress size in three days because let's be honest we have all been there and know it doesn’t work!// I want to share 4 steps with you on how I get focused when I return from holiday in the hope it helps you get back on track. BE REALISTIC - Don’t set yourself unrealistic weight loss goals. Be honest with yourself based on previous weight loss attempts. Set yourself short, medium and long-term goals.
GO BACK TO BASICS - I recommend rather than making massive changes and going full steam ahead, you make simple easy achievable changes that will make a big impact with minimal effort.
Drink 2 litres of water a day
Load your plate with greens
Consume good lean sources of protein at every meal
Swap the afternoon biscuit for a piece of fruit
Get some early nights
DON’T OVER RESTRICT - The biggest reason we all fail or give up is we restrict ourselves too much. I’m not saying its ok to carry on eating whatever you like, whenever you like. It is all about balance, 80% good 20% treat!
DESTRESS AND MAKE TIME FOR YOU
✔️Undertake some moderate exercise, for example, go for a brisk walk, do some yoga or take up palates.
✔️Try undertaking some kind of resistance training which will help burn fat and any fatty acids that are released during times of stress.
✔️Sleep is so important you must aim for a minimum of 8 hours per night, a good night’s sleep reduces cortisol levels, boosts the growth hormone which helps burn fat.
✔️Keep a diary of your emotions, this will help you establish triggers.

Today’s gluten, grain and dairy-free lunchbox. Salmon and dill fish cakes (I used ground almonds instead of bread crumbs), with oven-baked sweet potato chips and salad leaves with cold-pressed hemp seed oil dressing, almonds, sunflower seeds 😋.
Salmon: Omega 3 EFAs + protein.
Sweet potato: beta-carotene (Vit A), low GI carbs, fibre, magnesium, vit C.
Almonds: magnesium, fibre, vitamin E, calcium, healthy fats.
Sunflower seeds: magnesium, selenium, phosphorus, folate, healthy fats, vitamin E, fibre.

The recovery is going great! Yaaaay. My everyday is not that painful, I walk normally (kinda) again and I can use my left arm again (70%). Yesterday I went to the doctor and she said I am doing great. 💪 Also caring about food being a fuel for my recovery. Even though the first day I just fell sorry for myself and ate junk food and ice cream. 😅 But already today I am craving the good fuel so my mind set is back! My podcast of the week this week discusses the rise of childhood obesity. This is a really interesting and important topic.
Childhood obesity is on the rise globally. Dr Sandro Demaio @sandrodemaio
discusses how the true drivers are more about the environment than the individual. Therefore, interventions will be most effective if targeting the obesogenic environment and creating a healthier path of least resistance. Schooling can also act as an education to a healthy lifestyle, including mandatory guidelines on school catering, sport and education regarding nutrition and cooking. Dr Demaio also discusses 'true pricing', making sure at the point of consumption a product price pays resemblance to the true price of the product, not only to the individual but also to society as a whole, including funding towards the health consequencs of consuming that product.
The health impacts of a child with obesity is significant. The term 'adult onset' is no longer applicable for several metabolic diseases.
Dr Demaio discusses how he predicts a rise of preventive medicine specialists, driven by consumer demand. With populations wanting to keep healthy instead of being made better and an associated increased skill set needed amongst the medical community in lifestyle medicine. This really excited me, as having a whole speciality dedicated to lifestyle and preventative medicine would be something I'd jump to be involved and specialise in at any moment. I'd like to be able to dedicate my work to promoting wellness rather than treating disease.
He discusses how measures outside of what would be traditionally seen as the health sector can impact obesity rates. For me this resonated with my current module for my Masters in Public Health - Public Policy for Health.

My mornings as single mom of two are quite busy. Specially cause we all love to stay in bed five minutes more... Well I had to change that since my kid started school. So I wake up early to do yoga or just to enjoy a bath, or even going to the toilet by myself! (priceless). Still I mostly don't get the time to have breakfast before taking the kids to school and kinder. So this is my time! This is my coffee break! Since I quit coffee. I sit here, wake up with my greens and enjoy the silence 💜🙏🏼
