Two short years ago today, I held this baby in my hands for the very first time. Never EVER could I have predicted its amazing success. The day I was on QVC, it shot to #33
of ALL books on Amazon, not just cookbooks, but ALL books...and it wasn't to be released for another two and half months! ART OF THE PIE made nearly every “Best of" list, was given the distinction of being named one of the 100 Best Cookbooks ever written by Southern Living, was the inaugural read in the Food52 Cookbook Club, and received a James Beard Nomination.
Over these two years, I have carried this first copy with me to every event at which I have been privileged to speak, teach, and demonstrate, and it has been with me at each Pie Camp and workshop. I am so grateful for family and friends who mean the world to me, for meaningful work, for an agent and publisher who were willing to take a chance on a pie teacher with a small social media platform. Now, two years later, I have a second book just about to launch (HOME COOKING WITH KATE McDERMOTT-Oct 2018), and...dare I say it...MORE projects on the horizon. All of this happened AFTER the age of 60! You never know what Life has in store for you. I am blessed beyond belief! 💗
