Here’s a tick list for you to ensure you are getting it right with your fitness aspirations:
☑️ Eating should be: fresh, whole foods, not processed, every plate should be a balance of carbs, protein and fats, fresh fruit not dried, regular timed meals, cut all fat off meat, a variety of food (search recipes forums for new ideas) no sugars or artificial sweeteners, pay attention to your micro nutrients as well as you macros, eating nutritionally rich foods are just as important.
☑️ Drinking should be: limited or zero alcohol, plenty of water (6-8 glasses), beware of ‘healthy drinks’ , avoid carbonated or juice drinks.
☑️ Training should be: intense, sweaty, hard, regular, weight bearing, not able to hold a conversation while your working, efficient, clearly set out, progressive overload.
☑️ Sleeping should be: a solid 8 hours, no reading in bed or trolling through social media, just relax and let your body wind down and heal, grow and repair while your in the land of nod.
☑️ Rest days: learn to psychology let go of the idea that if your not hammering it in the gym every single day then all your hardwork is unraveling before your eyes.
☑️ Being consistent: practice makes perfect, challenging yourself, setting mini goals, keep going even on the days you don’t have the feels for it, and ESPECIALLY when you don’t feel like progress is happening.
☑️ Surround yourself with people who are on the same buzz as you, who will support and back up your plans to be fit and active.
☑️ Allow yourself a balance, it’s not all about fitness and routine, it’s about exercising your soul and doing what you love with the people you love and if that’s having a bag of chips at the seaside then go for it! Everything in moderation.
☑️ Be dedicated: Don’t lose sight of why you started and don’t let anyone make you feel bad for taking the decision to be a better, healthier you.
