mixer when making his bread and there was a queue for the mixer and oven last weekend. I only managed to squeeze in my pavlova last night. It’s my first time to make it so it needs some work. I also decided to torch it but may have overdone it a tiny bit!🙊 I know it shouldn’t look this brown but oh well, it’s still good enough to eat! 😊 #desserttable

So this may turn into a lil bit of a series that becomes a thing I do 💁
and I always go for dinner together once a week, usually on a Wednesday night.
And we eat good. So I thought it might be cool if I did a tiny review on each place 😊 tonight was a Streetbar Named Desire and I must say, I love this place. I really really love it.
The restaurant is beautiful, the downstairs is wonderfully trendy in the way that is in vogue of late, touches of old school opulence in a precisely considered way that smacks of new money attempts at not being pretentious. And it is gorgeous. Upstairs has a view of Jan Smuts that shouldn’t be beautiful but amongst all the suspended pot plants, it manages to be stunning.
The food was really good. The right amount of trendy to remain unfussy. Well prepared, our steak was perfect and the calamari was amazingly crispy, interesting flavour and each bite yummier than the next.
Would deffs recommend to a friend 😋

Unseen: The Raven Rye, chai spice, bitters. Chicken liver mousse with house made rye and pastrami onion jam. Romanesco with everything bagel bread crumbs & sauce gribiche. Sweet potato with boursin cheese, smoked walnuts, and pickled long hots. smoked salmon crudo with quark cheese, apple, and jalapeño. Another favorite...veal schnitzel tacos with anchovy mayo and health salad. Apple tart with schmaltz crust, lemon curd, and thyme. Bacon and egg cream with maple custard and chocolate foam.
