Røk fra skogbranner i Sverige ....
Smoke from the forest fires in Sweden!
This is the third day l smell the forest fires in Sweden when l step outside the house in the morning. Because the haze you see in these pictures is not mountain fog, it is the smoke from the vast Swedish forest fires! We are close to the border to Sweden here, but the smell travels very far in the air. (Fires in Jämtland, Härjedalen and Dalarna are the closest)🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The pictures are taken by my nephew in Sweden, Knut Kolbu.
I asked a simple question about the smell on a local Facebookgroup two days ago, and the response came from people hundreds of kilometers apart, they could all smell the smoke. Such a deep smell of burning boreal forests, pinetrees mostly. But even the ground itself is burning! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
In Norway we have had more than 400 forest fires in the last month, they are all under control. But the Swedish forest fires are much larger, and they are spreading! The Swedes have now got assistance from the 11 Norwegian water hauling helicopters, 2 Italian and 2 French "water bomb" airplanes, and further helicopters are coming from Lithuania and Germany. The planes can carry 6.000 liters of water and drop them like a water bomb. The men on the ground are working 24 hours shifts some of them - in uo to 30 degrees celsius. A lot of cabins, summer houses and even a museum has burned down, and hundreds of people have been ordered to evacuate their homes. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Almost 3 months of drought and no rain announced. Tragic! Even more tragic, some IDIOTS have ignored the fact that open fire has been strictly forbidden for months, they have made campfires and left, with fires as a result. Pictures have proven that. But the largest of the Swedish forest fires are probably caused by lightning. I hope the planes and helicopters succeed, because these fires are much too large to be fought from the ground. Last night lightning set fire to a local area with heather, they hope to control it. (Eltdalen in Trysil)
