Throwback - had the opportunity to visit a dance group when I was in Cartagena de Indias. It was rather dark inside, a good moment I thought to fiddle around with some really slow shutterspeeds. Just to see how far you can take it . This is one of the photographs that came out of the experiment which I truly love. Who else likes to play around with their shutterspeeds ?

***TURN YO PHONE*** the first in a series from @bdlangdp featuring the Kansai region from Nara to Kyoto to Koya - these are foundations of Japan, away from the fast life of Tokyo, and just a little more rural. Also monkeys. And me (not a monkey.) 🐒🎋⛩🇯🇵

Often one of the most dangerous places we can be is comfortable. I like comfort because I like being in control, but I’m in a season where I’m realizing the importance of stepping beyond that place and into the new and unfamiliar to realize that which so often stays trapped inside us. There are dozens of oft quoted phrases on stepping out of our comfort zones, so I won’t belabor that point. You’ve heard it. But this year I’m working towards sharing thoughts, ideas, and creative works that pull me out of comfort and into the beautiful chaos of living. The chaos of participation. Comfort is that place we go to watch from the sidelines, and while there are seasons where we find ourselves there, may we never dwell there for very long. // #socality#makeportraits
today i snowshoed for the first time! and while this scenery is beautiful, it doesn’t show you that i was either sweating or freezing the whole time, i tripped a couple times and fell in deep snow, i didn’t fill my hydration pack with water, and i didn’t bring my buff so my face was freezing and got sunburnt 😳😂 nothing in life is perfect! honestly this morning i was hesitant to get outside because my mind kept telling me i had to pack, clean up the house, and get ready for my week long adventure in british columbia. yet my desire to spend a day exploring with my cutie and take out my snowshoes won. i’m grateful it did. i must choose to focus on this positive. choose to remember how much fun it was to play in the snow and walk on it with such ease! ☃️how good it felt to move my body and work once the snow got deep. how nice it was to have warm ramen and tea at our resting spot 🍜☕️ how getting up high to witness the glorious mountains in this place makes me feel alive 🏔🙌🏼✨ how peaceful i feel out in nature, where the only sound is the crunching snow beneath me. 🧘🏻♀️🤗 im grateful for this journey that i’m on and for the things it allows me to do. i wouldn’t want it any other way. even if i can’t seem to fall asleep before this flight i have to leave for in 3 hours 😅🤷🏻♀️ #toostoked#trusttheprocess#365daysofgratitude

I HAVE A THING FOR FERRY BOATS| If I’m being honest, I’ve had a rough week and I started re-watching Grey’s Anatomy. Both random facts but having GA as an excuse to shed some tears has been pretty beneficial. Who knew TV could be so healing 🤷🏽♀️
After a long night of games and storytelling ‘round the campfire, we needed some rocket fuel to wake us up the next morning. “Cowboy Coffee” is a complete wildcard on taste. Sometimes it’s drinkable, other times it’s just plain terrible, but you can always count on that last sip being 94% coffee grounds. This particular pot was one of the friendlier brews.
Also, @juniperridge makes some rad mugs. Check them out!
I spend a lot more time scrolling + dreaming and a lot less time DOING these days. (#hibernation anyone?) So I’ll say this: I... a) plan on posting more often (feel free to unfollow if you don’t jive — no offense taken), b) am grateful for this time of solitude & reflection to start the new year, and c) have some new exciting things coming around the corner. Things that feel SO aligned with my purpose. Things that scare me and excite me and keep me up at night. So when I pulled this card the other day, I knew — the time is now. #justdoit
