Instagram vs Real Life.
Just kidding though because both of these photos depict how these two were throughout their wedding day😜
I have to give a shout-out to this guy for finally putting me into cool mom status. My son opened a pack of baseball cards tonight and this stud was right on top- BAM, instant badass status. It only took nine years. Hey thanks, @ray.black62

Part 2 of my "Wedding Traditions Series" *
I've been breaking down the phrase "Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue." At it's core, this phrase is basically a list of "good luck charms," needing to be carried by the bride on her wedding day. But as I mentioned in my previous post from this series, it's simply a tradition. And the great thing about traditions is that you can choose which ones you'd like to incorporate and even START NEW ONES if you want!!!
Have you ever started a new tradition? Somethings you don't even know you are starting a new tradition, till later in life, when you can see it getting repeated.
S O M E T H I N G N E W
It's pretty on the nose... but it represents optimism for the future. And like I said before, anything can be considered new. Your dress, the veil, your shoes, your jewelry... the possibilities are endless. *
There’s so many things you can choose from for this good luck charm, cause almost everything that day is “new.”
Another idea... Some couples choose to exchange gifts the day of the wedding, and this gift could very easily be your "something new." Like a necklace, bracelet, perfume... What's sweet about this idea, is that it's something you've both put thought into and are bringing fresh into your marriage. *
I also love thinking that my something new, could one day be my daughters something old or something borrowed! .

Make sure you hire the RIGHT company! My 10 tips for hiring the BEST catering company, for one of the most important days of your life🥘🎉 -
1. Find a company that will customize a menu and budget for you.
2.Make sure your caterer has a prompt response time.
3. Check reviews online, Facebook, Yelp and Google. Make sure they 4 stars or better.
4. Ask them “why,” they do it!
5. Ask for references from past catering events, at least 3.
6. Make sure they help cut the cake for you!!
7. Make sure they offer a tasting included with the service (usually companies will offer tastings after you book with them).
8. Make sure they do a “initial consultation,” so you are both on the same page.
9. Ask if they work out of a commercial kitchen or if it is home based, and follow up by asking if they have a license!
10. Last but not least, make sure to offer them a beer after the wedding 🍻

Behind every successful woman is a group of other women supporting her. One thing I love most about what I do is how many awesome people I get to meet all the time. I have met so many wonderful women this past year and cultivated some amazing friendships. Their support and encouragement is what keeps me going. Super thankful for all of them!
If you like peanut butter on your cheeseburgers, I’m not sure we can be friends.
Memories in the making. 👰

You may have heard the phrase "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" for your wedding day. ✨
So for the next few weeks, I'll be doing a series on wedding traditions. Some traditions you may have heard of before, other's are new and only just becoming popular. Tradition doesn't have to be something old, it's essentially just something with meaning that gets repeated amongst a group or community. So what do you want to pass down to your children?
I know when my husband and I got married, that was part of our goal was to incorporate traditions that meant a lot to us, but also start some of our own.
But I'm getting ahead of myself... let's start with the background on this phrase. It comes from an Old English Rhyme about good luck charms on your wedding day. But I like to look at them like tokens of love you carry with you on this special day.
S O M E T H I N G O L D ...
There's some pretty creepy meanings behind this, but I prefer the more contemporary meaning of CONTINUITY.
"the unbroken and consistent existence or operation of something over a period of time." ✨
Perhaps it could even be a reflection of the verse "and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.” Something passed down as a symbol of the continuous unbreakable commitment to your marriage. It's a reflection of knowing where you've come from and where you are going.

I’ve been told I should do an introduction to myself every so often as more of you start to join my crazy journey. Sooooo, yeah- I’m Carrie. I’m a wife to a handsome pilot. I’m a mother to 4 incredible, beautiful babes. I eat horribly no matter how hard I try to be healthy. I love stupid humor and probably sometimes laugh at things that maybe a 32 year old shouldn’t. I can never remember my age and consistently have to turn to my husband to remind me when asked. I’m an avid sports fan with horrible taste in teams, although my luck may finally be changing (Lord help us, Odell). My perfect day is either hiking endless mountains or not moving from my bed with an Apple TV remote in hand. I call this ‘balance.’ I thrive traveling and searching for our next adventure- which that handsome pilot, best friend of a husband definitely comes in handy for. I consider myself so damn lucky to be able meet so many amazing people and to join them along their own incredible journeys. I am constantly on the go, blessed beyond measure, and wouldn’t have this life any other way. So yeah, stick around. Things are bound to get weird around here. 🤟🏼
I actually blogged these babies. Chyeah, insert shocked face- about as rare as the total lunar eclipse. 🌑🌙
Hi friends! I’m still here 🙋🏼♀️ 🌲
February was a super challenging month for me. I didn’t feel like posting or really being on social media, so I didn’t and wasn’t 😄. What I’m learning is that you simply cannot place your hope in the things of this world. Whether it be things, people, jobs, your own will, whatever!! None of them can completely fulfill us. Only Christ is a solid enough foundation to hope in! 🌲
I hope you all are doing so good 😊
Got to spend some time playing in RMNP this weekend with one of the girls I coach! Thanks for the snap @abbysue14 #forestpictureco
This has been a tough season of life for us. We are dealing with a lot of trying things and it’s definitely weighing on me. I try to be honest and open here because I believe in authenticity above everything...so instead of posting this lovely couple and talking about how cute they are, I’m choosing to be honest about daily struggles and life’s valleys. Because we’re all in the depths sometimes and it helps to know you aren’t alone.
When the benefit of eating oysters outweighs the potential risk of staining your wedding gown before wedding portraits. Like a boss. 💃🏻
Can you guys tell how obsessed I have been with ring shots lately??? 🤪😄😍
I’m not obsessed with them, you’re obsessed with them!
FIND YOUR LIGHT!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A phrase spoken often in the theater world. A world I am so very fond of and one that I have spent almost my entire life working professionally. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And in the land of photography so much of what we direct actors to do, still rings true during a photo session. You might be surprised by the number of times I say things like, "can I get you two to move further downstage." .... Ok, so maybe not all "stage directions" work on a photoshoot (unless I'm photographing actors). But as a stage director, so much of what we put on stage is with lighting in mind. Light can evoke emotion, it can guide your eye, and it can enhance a story. So, when I'm seeking a great location with my couples, I will frequently stop us in our tracks because I've just spotted the perfect light, usually saying, "guys are you up for just one more"? It's all about the light and knowing how to place a couple in the perfect spot, where the light hits them just right, engulfing them in that warm glowy goodness, gives me all the feels. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When want that beautiful glow to outline the body, you want the sun to be behind you and the photographer to line up with your shadow. This will ensure you get even light around you and that nice glow in the background. Also make sure the sun is just out of frame so you don't get haze. (A mistake I made for a long time).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
