“Follow me mom!” It snowed again last night—creating a beautiful white blank canvas. My little one was so excited!! As I watched him call out to me this morning with outstretched arms, I was reminded again that I’m raising a leader, not just a little boy. Today he is a trail blazer of snow—making a new path where there isn’t one. What will he be tomorrow? I do not know, but our desire as parents is to give him the opportunity to grow in ways that fosters a sense of strong leadership. That mindset is a whisper of the real meaning of motherhood—it’s what keeps me grounded as a mom. Sure, I still wipe his nose and yes, change his pull ups. But if I’m not intentional to keep my eyes on the real definition of motherhood, these tasks of monotony will kick my legs out from under me. So today we’re “making life happen” by blazing new trails. We’re working on developing leadership, instead of following the world’s voice to just go with the flow and let life happen as it may.
