I’m digging through old photo files this evening and came across this reminder of the fact that sometimes... When it’s really cold in the Southern Appalachians.. Even the aliens come down to play. 👽
The junction at Jenkins Ridge.
Looking down onto Spence Field, from Rocky Top. You can see the shelter in the woods, not far from the AT.
Sometimes, you just need a break. In a beautiful place. Alone. To figure stuff out. 💆🏻♂️
if you could only see,
where they lead.
you will build-
out of the broken bits,
to all things beautiful.
Winter on the Pigeon River. ❄️ +⛰ =😍
And I count myself more fortunate with each passing season to have recourse to these quiet, tree-strewn, untrimmed acres by the water. I would think it a sad commentary on the quality of American life if, with our pecuniary and natural abundance, we could not secure for our generation and those to come the existence of . . . a substantial remnant of a once great endowment of wild and scenic rivers. — (William Anderson, Congressman from Tennessee, Arguing for passage of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act (1968)) #ourwild
No tracks. The mountain was all mine.

Yesterday’s bitter cold sunrise from the Foothills Parkway overlooking the city of Maryville. This is my first attempt at doing a panorama with the D850. End result....a huge and extremely detailed file. Swipe left for all three images...

and this one's
for the old souls
who spend their days
living in a feeling
living for a feeling
cares less and less
I went up today until I could see it all.
Been testing out the in camera 4K time lapse feature on the Nikon D850. So simple and easy to use as it’s all done in camera and pops out a video file with almost no effort.
