Have you ever had a “truth” moment in your personal wellness and evolution journey? ⠀ .⠀ ⠀ Yesterday I had just that. After years of forcing my body to perform and being hard on myself, I’ve changed courses and taken up a daily gentle morning yoga practice. During this time there is no comparison or prerogative to exercise or change my body. Rather I’ve been allowing the moment to dictate what kind of movement my body needs. After I finished and sat in meditation yesterday, I felt a love for my body that I’ve never quite had before. It felt like a coming home of sorts. All those years of criticism, chronic illness and pushing myself and my body seemed to melt away and I felt a deep respect for myself. Maybe that’s what yoga or union really means: Finding relationship with yourself. Honoring yourself. Finally. I ask you now, how can you find relationship with yourself today?✨✨✨⠀ ⠀ .⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Nourishing your body with the food it deserves is definitely a way!😍 Which segues into this amazing taco tuesday. Even though I posted this taco somewhere in the beginning of my feed, I’m still addicted to it, so here it is again🤷🏽‍♀️⠀ Recipe dEats👉🏽 heat oven to 400 degrees and prep veggies. I tossed baby potatoes, carrots, purple cauliflower and butternut squash in @chosenfoods avocado oil, salt, chili powder and a tiny amount of maple syrup and roasted for 20-25 minutes till slightly caramelized. In the meanwhile prep the chimmichuri sauce. Blend a bunch of cilantro and parsley with 3 cloves minced garlic, 1/2 an avocado, the juice of 1/2 a lime, salt, 1/4 a jalapeno or to taste, and 1/2 tsp maple syrup until smooth. Add water as needed to easily blend. I served veggies on a @sietefoods cassava tortilla with chimichurri sauce and garnished with watermelon radish, cilantro, @go_raw sprouted pumpkin seeds and more lime to taste. I never thought I’d be the type of person to log their food for the day. I always thought since I ate decently healthy that it was never something I’d need to do. • • Here’s the truth: yes, I ate relatively healthy- but I’d forget about the pieces of chocolate I’d sneak here and there throughout the day, and then I’d neglect to account for those when I wanted to treat myself to a small bowl of ice cream while catching up on my tv shows. All of that added up to a big problem: I was working out 5-6 days a week and not seeing results. • • Logging my food has made me accountable. “Tell me what you eat, and I will tell you what you are.” G.K. Chesterton . . 6 weeks. 4.2 lbs. 7 inches. I’ve spent the last six weeks really dialing in on my nutrition. In case you weren’t aware 😜, I like to exercise. I do cardio. I lift heavy. I do both consistently. Yet despite all of my hard work, I just wasn’t seeing the results that I envisioned. I decided to change up my nutrition plan a bit just to see if there’s truth to the nutrition-being-80% hype. My conclusion is a resounding YES. . . Basically, I ate a ton...like 2,000 calories/day ton. I just incorporated more carbs (yep 😮), more healthy fats and a moderate amount of protein. I changed what time(s) I was eating these nutrients and voila, my transformation began. I need to add the fact that the Christmas holidays interrupted my six week plan, yet I was still successful. The proof is in the pudding...the pudding that you can still eat 😉 once you understand the science behind WHEN to eat it. . . I can’t end this post without pointing out the difference in my hair. Ummm, hello healthy fats and protein!!! 💁🏼‍♀️ If I hadn’t taken the pictures myself, I would have said that there’s no way my hair grew that much in 6 weeks. It did. That’s what a healthy diet will do. If nutritious foods can change the outside of my body, hair, etc., I can only imagine what it’s doing for the inside of my body. 💃 . . So my question for you is - What are you waiting for? The timing will never be perfect. The right time is right now! Life events will always come along and attempt to derail your journey. Sometimes you will resist those temptations and sometimes (like me), you’ll cave. One of the most important things I’ve learned to do is extend myself some grace after those times that I cave. I don’t beat myself up. I get up, dust myself off and pick back up where I left off. So again, what are you waiting for? Label yourself TODAY as a BAD MAMMA-JAMMA and then live up to that name!! Last week's lifting....how fast and easier than expected these weights moved makes me ALMOST not cringe terribly at my super rounded back 🙈.....or at the very least not hang my head and bendy back in shame 🤣 I was actually really happy with how it felt and excited to hit my goal of a double body weight deadlift with a little couple kilo extra for that 130kg! Felt like I could have moved more on the day but man it would have been fugly 😅 From here will be happiest with lower weights and tighter nicer reps....back is strong but needs to earn the bigger weights better 😁💪👌

Platón de Hummus 🤤💥🙌🏻 . . ⚡️Ingredientes 〰️Chips de pan pita • 500 g pan pita cortada en triángulos • 150 g aceite de ajonjolí Bioessens • 1 cdta sal • 1/8 cdta ajo en polvo 〰️Tapenade de aceitunas • 10 aceitunas moradas cortadas en cubitos • 10 aceitunas verdes cortadas en cubitos • 6-8 hojas de albahaca • 1 cda aceite de oliva 〰️Tomates cherry al horno • 15 tomates cherry • a gusto sal • un chorrito de aceite de oliva 〰️Hummus • 350 g garbanzos • 2 cdas jugo de limón • 100 ml aceite de ajonjolí Bioessens • 4 cdas tahini • 1 diente de ajo • a gusto sal y pimienta 〰️Además para decorar • Almendras fileteadas tostadas . . 🥣Procedimiento Chips de pan pita 1. Mezclar todo en un bowl y meter al horno a 180C por 10-20min o hasta que estén dorados. 2. Dejar que se enfríen. Tomates cherry 1. Echarle aceite de oliva y sal a los tomates cherry y ponerlos en un horno precalentado a 180C hasta que se pongan dorados y se empiecen a desmoronar. 2. Dejar que se enfríen. Tapenade de aceitunas 1. Mezclar todo en un bowl. Hummus 1. Pon todo en un procesador de alimentos o licuadora y procesar hasta que esté uniforme y sedoso. Recuerda quitar lo que se pega a los lados del contenedor porque si no te vas a quedar con pedacitos sin procesar. 2. It was just brought to my attention that it’s National Blonde Brownie Day (cool?)👀 Any excuse to make these s’mores blondies... I can get down with that👅👏🏼💯 Lined with graham crackers on the bottom, with a perfectly moist + chocolatey cookie filling, topped with marshmallows... I think you should just try it for yourself👇🏼 X X X X X X X X X X X Mix 1/3c cane sugar, 1/3c brown sugar, 1 cup softened butter, 1 tsp vanilla extract, + 1 egg in a bowl. Stir in 2 1/4c flour, 1 tsp baking soda, + 1/2tsp salt. Stir in chocolate chips + small marshmallows. Line a 9x9” pan with graham crackers. Add cookie dough + top with extra marshmallows & chocolate chips. Bake @350 for 15 mins. Let cool before cutting into squares/bars.

OVERNIGHT SLOW COOKER MAPLE CINNAMON OATMEAL⠀ Servings 8⠀ Ingredients⠀ 2 cups steel cut oats no substitution⠀ 6 cups water⠀ 2 cups milk⠀ 1 cup plain Greek yogurt⠀ 2 teaspoons cinnamon⠀ 1/4 cup maple syrup⠀ 1 teaspoon vanilla extract⠀ dash of sea salt⠀ 1 teaspoon melted coconut oil⠀ Instructions⠀ Grease slow cooker by brushing with melted coconut oil.⠀ Mix oats, water, milk, 1 cup yogurt, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla and sea salt together in large slow cooker. Place lid on slow cooker and cook for 6 hours on low for firm texture and 8 hours on low for softer texture. Today’s long day of classes had me feeling excited for a great dinner!!! I’ve recently been introduced to the world of brussel sprouts and I don’t think I’m ever leaving. • • In my bowl: brussel sprouts halved and cooked face down in a pan with some olive oil until browned (about 7 minutes) flip and cool for another 4! Mini red potatoes boiled till soft and hand mashed w milk, butter and salt until you get the desired texture. Mine were pretty chunky since I didn’t use a mixer! Finally the steak was patted dry, generously seasoned w salt and pepper and cooked in a hot pan with olive oil for 3 ish mins each side!! Yum!!

Garlic-Ginger Soup. 🍜 Fights the flu, sinus infection, colds, etc. Ingredients: 4 green onions, finely sliced 50g of grated root ginger 2 cloves of garlic, peeled and finely diced 7 cups of chicken broth or stock (or vegetable stock for vegans) 1 finely diced medium-hot chili pepper Method: Place the onions, garlic, and ginger in a large pot and gently saute on a low heat for 2 minutes. Add the stock or broth and bring the soup to the boil. Gently simmer until all the ingredients are softened. I've had a few people ask recently if "those things you take really work." So I want to explain a tiny bit about nutrition and how it effects the body. For example, when you put 98 premium in your car it runs better and you get better fuel economy than if you fill it with E10. It's the same for your body! Fill it with junk you will be full but feel sluggish, wear out faster and you will get sick more often. Fill it with good nutrient dense food and you will feel more energised! Good nutrition helps to - Boost your immune system - Give you more energy - Reduce the risk of chronic disease - Delay effects of aging - Positively affects your mood - Increase focus - Manage a healthy weight - Reduce blood pressure - Lower cholesterol Just to name a few. It's not magic, it's science! So that being said, yes these "things" do work! They are literally wholefood in a capsule making it easier for you to ensure you have a decent amount of nutrition in your body every single day without the hassle of buying all of the food yourself, find the time to prep and cook it and then get around to eating the recommended daily amount of fruit and vege every single day! They aren't a miracle cure, you won't feel like a new person after 1 day but over time, with consistency, your body will absorb these nutrients every single day and fuel your body to work the way it should!

Apple Multigrain Bircher with Blackberry Chia Jam . I feel as though I’ve swiftly ascended to a sophisticated level of overnight oats this week with an evolution into the world of BIRCHER! What the hell is the difference though - they both contain oats, yoghurt and a bit of milk. Both bowls are a similar texture, taste, look and colour. Well they are essentially the same thing by a different name - they are also just referred to simply as muesli. Bircher muesli is based on a combination of raw rolled oats mixed with other ingredients like grains, fresh or dried fruits, seeds, nuts and mixed with milks, yoghurt or fruit juice. Muesli, however, differs from granola as it is eaten raw and without any added oils. . . Muesli was introduced around 1900 by Swiss physician Maximilian Bircher-Benner for patients in his hospital, where he prescribed a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables. Muesli, originally known in Swiss German as Birchermuesli, is an Alemannic diminutive of Mues, which means “puree” or “mash up”. Bircher-Benner himself simply referred to the dish as “d’Spys” which translates to “the dish”. Muesli in its modern form came into popularity in Western countries in the 1960s, when there was an increasing interest in health food and vegetarian diets. In Switzerland and Germany, “the dish” is eaten as a light evening dish. . By any name, “the dish” certainly is my absolute favourite. You can be as inventive as your creativity allows or stick to the traditional flavours! My brain is swimming with inspiration after inhaling @anniskk book “Porridge” this week! Today’s bowl is apple multigrain bircher with blackberry chia jam. I’ve mixed rolled and spelt oats and rye grain, ground flaxseeds, chia seeds, yoghurt, almond milk and vanilla protein powder.
