Jean Foillard is among the best producers of Beaujolais.
This wine comes from the climate "Les Charmes", an area facing South-East, on granite, with shales veins manganese, altitude between 300 and 450 meters. Jean cultivates Bio from the start but did not seek certification. For the rest, tradition operates: hand harvesting, vinification Whole bunch, carbonic maceration, breeding from 8 months in barrels, no filtration, no sulfur.
This wine has some of the trademark Foillard funk, but it’s so bright and pretty too.
Juicy red berries, spice and dried herb whole bunch, so silky and fresh, poached strawberry too, with a finish that really takes off.
It’s pretty fucking slurpable.
