They have a great list of health benefits as they are packed with vitamins and minerals, fiber as well antioxidants. Low glycemic so they can keep you content and satisfied longer. Can be great for weight loss/fat loss as well as keeping you looking lean and jacked💪🏾 __________________ For me personally I find that I can eat them and always feel great and energized. No bloating or inflammation on the body like some foods can make you feel. Nowadays, more and more I find that some foods I just don’t do well with. But through self elimination and experimenting I know what foods make me feel crappy, fatigue, achy joints etc, even though it’s considered healthy and which foods make me feel great. Always be willing to do some food eliminating if you always find yourself not feeling so great after eating certain foods. HOW MANY CARBS SHOULD I CONSUME? 🥪 As mentioned earlier in the week, carbohydrates are not actually essential for human life although they are required for “optimal health and functionality”. The requirement for carbs will differ between people dependant largely on physical activity levels. For the general population, anywhere between 1-4g/kg (grams of carbs per kg of body weight) should be sufficient whereas for a performance athlete anything from 3-10g/kg would be advised. One of my favorite ways to get some cardio/conditioning work done is sprinting and various drills on the stairs/bleachers. This type of cardio is great for building leg power as well as burning body fat at a high rate. I get outside and do this type of workout at least once a week as long as it’s dry, cold or hot. I generally would start with some jumping variations. Then finish with some sprints at a specific distance. In this session and phase I was focusing on 60 meters. Either way no matter your age and within your capability. Implementing these type of workouts at least once a week will get you some great results coupled with your strength training routine as well as your nutrition and recovery/sleep etc. . if you are busy mom/dad or just an individual with a lot of stuff going on, Struggling to stick to a workout routine. Intent. Ensure when you are training that you are looking to explosively lift for maximum recruitment of muscle fibres. Submaximum lifts result in submaximum performance. Hamstrings in particular can be an explosive and powerful force producer. The actions involved in sprinting highlight the need for strong, powerful and explosive training. N.B there are times when we do need slower tempo lifts and movements.

Full disclosure...I am by obligation of my career choice, structured and linear-thinking when it comes to programming for my people (clients, athletes, friends). However, freedom of hopping off the beaten path and being random to dose the body with what it feels is where I am strongest. When a client comes in, I watch how they move, pay attention to what they say and feel and generally concoct a recipe of movements that will be a perfect combination of what they need and what their body wants. That being said, when I train myself, I do not have one single goal in mind. Most people are concerned with a goal and I’m a big fan of setting goals and accomplishing them, but to be honest I’ve never been motivated by anything other than challenging myself and having fun. There’s something about the challenge of accomplishing new skills, getting stronger and the freedom of doing what my body feels like doing on the fly that makes me feel extremely accomplished. If you know me, you know I am always unsure what my workout will be when I show up to the gym.
