I have a goal. This goal is to come back to myself.
Why? You may ask. You’re still you. But honestly I am not. The lifestyle we live in the military, moving from place to place, it’s cool but it can truly start to weigh on you. And I have become very heavy. The weight of our move has been pulling me more and more and I found myself starting to sink.
Losing joy in things that once brought so much.
I get on my mat, stand there and just feel empty. Completely empty.
Well that’s about to change. Because that mat right there is what gives me strength. Not just in a physical way, strength in my mind, in my person. .

Sometimes taking that 15 minutes-1 hour in your schedule to exercise, even when you think you don't have the time to give, can be the key to having a productive day. Does anyone else know what I mean?
Even on the days I'm feeling sluggish, unproductive, or just plain lazy; if I can just get a few sweet moments of exercise in, I can have a completely different outcome to my day.
Today, I chose a beautiful Shakti Power Flow with @adrienelouise
, and it was exactly what this lady ordered!
To be honest, I didn't even have time to get the kitty hair off my leggings this morning, but I knew if I didn't show up for myself, the downhill spiral for the week would begin leaving me feeling unproductive and frankly, disappointed.
My only regret- I should have done my practice earlier in the day! (I'll be sure to pencil it in for next week. 😉) So if you need me, I'll be over here embracing the amazing groove I fell into after my yoga sesh and crossing off the to-do list for this beautiful Monday! And if you need it, let this be your motivation to find whatever exercise you need to jump back into your Monday worker bee saddle! 👌✨

This is me, practicing with me this morning.
You might not be able to tell, but I am actually doing a 15-minute yoga class I recorded for my Conscious Healthy Collective.
Is it weird or arrogant that I am taking my own class?
I don't think so.
First of all, I love the classes I create.
One of the standards I use to measure the success of my classes is, "would I enjoy this if it was taught to me? Would this feel good in my body? Is this something that would make me come back for more?"
If the answer isn't yes, I check in with "why" and do some critical thinking about both my teaching, as well as my self as a student.
Second, every so often I like to watch my own videos to make sure that they are understandable.
Meaning, if you are viewing you can follow along with relative ease.
Online yoga is notoriously mediocre when it comes to this standard.
I want to be sure my instruction is crystal clear, engaging, and thoughtful.
I want to be sure my sequencing is easy to follow, while also creative and a little surprising.
I have ridiculously high standards for myself when it comes to teaching because I want to be an exceptional ambassador to yoga.
I watch my own videos to make sure that I am holding up my end of the bargain as a teacher.
This class was even more fun than I remembered. I didn't remember the exact sequence because I filmed it months ago. It kept me moving, warmed me up really well, and had me smiling by the end.
Yeah, tooting my own horn here.

When I do have 2 hours to practice these are the shenanigans I get into. Researching kapotasana with my elbows already grounded, plus I love eka pada viparita dandasana. Backbends are my addiction. I’m ok with that as I make sure I keep my practice well rounded with all movements in all directions I just happen to need more play to experience better backbends. As I get older I feel@like
