Schmidt Peterson Motorsports has announced Swedish Formula One driver, Marcus Ericsson has joined the team.
Ericsson will drive the No. 7 SPM Honda in 2019, leaving F1 and the team at Sauber.
SPM will leave the No. 6 open for injured Robert Wickens, who could return sometime next year.
Despite moving to the States for IndyCar, the Swede will remain a reserve driver for Sauber in Formula One.
Erricson is relieving paralyzed Wickens, who was paralyzed from the chest down following a crash at Pocono Raceway in August. Wickens expects to walk within 24 months but is desperately trying to regain nerve control in his legs.
The full extent of injuries are still unknown.
