What a day @ocrwc.
I'm still trying to work out how I feel about it.
I lost my band at obstacle 44/100 and could not complete 13 obstacles in total. Today was a lesson in humility - I am a long way away from being of a standard to finish with a wrist band in tact.
On the flip side, I hadn't even done a Spartan race this time last year and these were the World Champs! Only 18% of my age group racers completed with their bands and the standard I was racing with was awesome - losing your band was nothing to be ashamed of today.
The thing I was most shocked at was the emotional aspect. Both the highs - I wanted to keep my band so badly that I completed some obstacles I never thought I'd do - and the lows (after failing three obstacles in a row I literally spent 5 minutes bringing myself to jump from one 8ft wall to another). I almost cried when I crossed the finish line. I did cry when @tim_k2000
crossed the finish line with his band after spending 40mins not giving up and defeating Skull Valley. There were a lot of people crying.
Will there be a next year? Maybe for @tim_k2000
, I think I'll need a few more years practise. But I attempted every obstacle, I never stopped running and I finished. And, for once, that's actually good enough for me.

Eu tive inúmeros incentivadores no meu caminho e aprendi a dominar a minha mente e estou QUASE lá 😉
Mas já me sinto feliz e completa com o que conquistei até aqui, sendo assim não importa o resultado de amanhã, pois eu já venci a batalha mais difícil e aparentemente impossível: os críticos de plantão e os meus demônios!

We did it! This is the first time I’ve ran a #10k
with a friend, and @fatherjillmisty
and I killed it. Also, I totally gamed the #soberoctober
system and quit drinking in September so that my 4 weeks sober would fall on #raceday
and I could have a #postrace

Earlier today after placing my normal Instagram account (@__powerpuffxo
) on private, I received the above comment on this account claiming I am sucking in my belly which for anyone who has seen me & for anyone who knows me knows how false that accusation is. Last week I found myself defending myself against _ pea 3 p 0h for being abusive (a girl called Rhiannon Murton) & this week either her or her friends who hate me (they’re a gang) have now done this.
But because of the nastiness of the above comment I feel I have to defend myself YET AGAIIIIN. I have put on weight purely because not only am I working full time, but I am also looking for a new job, I am spending a lot of time with my grandparents, friends & other family, I am studying 3hrs a night most evenings & a total of at least 8hrs on the weekend for my degree so the gym has been pushed back BUTTTTT I have been in control of my weight & health through diet & until I get a new job, this is how it’ll be. But until then, I am frickin proud of my body!! I worked so damn hard for months to get this body & I will not let a shameless bully claim I am faking how slim I am.

THIS race, hands down, has such a special place in my heart being the one where I ran my 1st marathon (+ Boston Qualified) in 2017...

Four flights, 33 hours and 4,000 miles later, I landed in my home town, Omaha, Nebraska. Got up and decided to hit the road, in my trainers, of course! It was so lovely running amongst the changing Autumn leaves, especially when you’re used to living on a (nearly) treeless island. #cityrunning #autumn

* Round 6 on this course. I’ve had awesome moments here- 1st road half, 1st marathon, a PR. I’ve also had some of my worst races- had severe food poisoning once, & last year I legit hobbled 17 of 26 miles on an injury. this year? I decided to “downgrade” my registration from 26.2 to 13.1 bc I haven’t trained enough 😞. If ya know me, you know this drove me nuts. This morning I considered not coming at all. Why bother? I’ve done dozens of half marathons. heck I’ve done this race half a dozen times. I haven’t trained & im drowning in school work & there’s no way I’ll beat my current PR....
all these excuses & the truth is, its just a race and I’m not out here to win it. And sometimes I put too much pressure on myself to ALWAYS be improving. And right now? I’m not improving. I’m not the fastest I’ve ever been. I’m not focusing on running. I’m not accomplishing the running goals I set for this year. And I sometimes (or all the time) feel like my life is falling apart right now.
But I thought about it & realized, running brings me more joy than anything in the world. It’s meditation. It’s my time to relax and think or not think at all. And it makes me want to be a better me. And who freakin cares what my time is GD it.
So, I did what I always do. Laced up the sneaks & ran.
And you know what?? I had a blast. I turned off my watch. And just enjoyed the running community. And I was overflowing with joy the entire race! The camaraderie is insane and makes you feel part of something important. I felt silly for forgetting what it’s really all about.
So if you’ve made it this far, I just want to say CONGRATS to all the runners! And to everyone: a small reminder to not take yourself so seriously. And have a wonderful Saturday 🙂.
