It's supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year. Where we wrap up our love and give it to those in our lives. 🎁 But why is is so fucking hard to give it to ourselves. The dreaded off season bod transformation👀 But in this sport transparency is important. Not just for others outside of it but for fellow competitors that go through the same process every year. June 26, 2018➡️ December 12, 2018 Approximately 15 pounds later and a priceless about of mental strength later. This years off season was much easier for me to take on. I knew it was time to be “normal” again and I didn’t care what I’d end up looking like along the way. That’s not to say I didn’t hide from the mirror a few times this season🤭. But what’s different from last off season? - I don’t check for water retention every freakin day lol. I accept I’m holding a little water and move on. - I make room for foods I enjoy more regularly, yes they still fit my macros. But now I’m not afraid to have them and my body usually thanks me. - I’m not worried about what other people think!!! I hear this a lot from competitors, how they’re worried people will say “wow they let themselves go” or “why didn’t they stay on that diet?”. Some people will never understand that a physique two weeks out is NOT a maintainable one. And that’s okay! - I’m TRULY murdering my workouts. I get carried away all the time with how much time I spend at the gym😂. But it’s led me to have a great mind muscle connection, and not to mention I’m at my heaviest hip thrust weight yet🍑. Am I excited to look like the photo on the left? Yes and no. Yes because prep starts in just two weeks and I can’t wait to see all my hard work. No, because I WONT look like the photo on the left😉. One of the best parts of visiting home is doing home workouts with these awesome dudes! 🙌 I realized I hadn't squatted weight in 9 months (oops😅), so I wasn't sure how it would go but it went pretty well!😊 Worked my way up to 135lbs & finished 4 sets of 5 reps. I want to do more consistent weight lifting, but I say that every time 😏. It does feel great though! I just need more time & energy to do all the fitness things I enjoy! Forget doing the math💪 . My #transphormationtuesday is a bit different today, it's neither a scale victory or a difference in my body from last week to this week. I may not be shedding pounds left and right, but let me just share and say I hit a new deadlift PR and I am damn proud. I have mentioned before that I used to DL w/a trap bar because the straight bar was a big no for me. After I moved and started going to the gym again, it doesn't have trap bar so I hadn't been deadlifting. Well long story short I started again and little by little made my way up...I also messed up on the math and ended up at 125lbs for 10 reps *insert happy dance (yea I danced). I know that may not be a lot of weight but someone with bad knees and bad back pretty much an eleventy yr old body it's pretty damn heavy 👵 . So with that being said never settle, improvise, work with what you have, do what you have to to get it done. I posted this on my story yesterday and received a ton of questions asking what I changed this year to make the improvements I made since a year ago and there are two huge factors that I know completely contributed to my physique and body composition changes! . 1: CONSISTENCY!!! On the left, I was not consistent. I did hit my macros, but I let loose for a couple months with doing really big splurge cheat meals once a week. If you’re already eating in a surplus, besides the mental aspect of having a cheat meal (taking a break from tracking and enjoying a meal out with others) it’s just not necessary. Period. If you’re eating surplus daily and on top of that eating like an asshole on the weekends thinking those “gains” are all muscle...think again. . 2: INTENSITY!! I have been pushing the weight and seriously giving my workouts MY ALL! I always go in the gym determined to beat my last workout. I train with the passion I have to win my pro card some day. I train with fucking purpose. If I ever find myself being lazy during my workout, I think to myself “It’s up to you, Hayley, do you want first...or last call outs?”. . I have not felt comfortable with my physique these last two weeks. But I have made so much progress compared to last year (like HELLOOO rear delts!!). And that’s not even a lot of time to gain muscle!
