Breakfast at 2?
That's right! Have you heard of intermittent fasting? It's the practice of leaving 16 hours between the food you ate last night and your #breakfast
the next day.
I intermittent fast twice a week, but initially it was quite by accident. I've found when I work out later in the day, I don't eat dinner until 9 ish, and it's often protein-rich. I like cherries and chocolate find myself munching on those as the evening goes by.
Eating first thing in the morning has never been my thing. I generally wait till 10 or 11, and now twice a week I wait till 2 in the afternoon.
Although many intermittent fast for #weightloss
that's not my motivation. I'm looking to increase the rate of #HumanGrowthHormone
production (HGH). I'm not ready to take #HGH
on its own when my body is still capable of producing it. My overall strategy at 50 is to let my body do what it knows to do. It's a physiological fact that production of HGH, #progesterone
decrease as we #age
. What I need to do is give it a little #kickintheass
is just one strategy in doing just that. I also take NAC.
Because I'm also battling the onset of #osteoarthritis
I also need to get a handle on #freeradical
damage and the #inflammation
at its core.
Intermittent fasting is also a great way to get a handle on how your body deals with #sugar
as it increases #insulinsensitivity
which is imperative in any #diabetes
There is nothing about what I do that includes any #magicpill
- This is about teaching you how vast and variant your options are in taking control of your #health
When you find strategies that you actually resonate with, you will have success. I'm not about giving you a program. I want you to come up with your own. I want you to research and experiment. I want you to own your successes as you do your failures. I can't tell you how many things I've tried over the years.
Just like #exercise
, what works for me may not work for you, but the mere attempt will push you one step closer to your goals of aging sustainably. #ownyourlife #giveitashot #youhavetostartsomewhere
