Perito Moreno glacier breaking off... yet still looking incredibly majestic ❄️ Gratitude. Always 🙏🏼
I am having a little bit of an identity crisis tonight. You see, as I am sure most of you know, I was born and raised in California. I am not necessarily proud of that, but there are certain stereotypes I cling to. For example, I have always thought In N Out had the best burger in the world. TBH, moving away from the In N Out in St George was one of my worries about moving up to Montana from Zion.
Then today, my world was rocked. We had errands to run tonight and I didn’t feel like cooking. So my husband grabbed dinner from one of our local burger joints here on his way home from work, and holy cow. I have literally never tasted a better burger. I am stunned. Just speechless.
A better burger than In N Out? Who even am I anymore???
People don’t notice whether it’s summer or winter when they’re happy.
It was really hard to try and capture the sheer size of this glacier, it’s bigger than the city of Buenos Aires. We took a boat ride up close and saw several large pieces break off, but as this is a “stable” glacier, it regenerates at the same rate it loses, it isn’t shrinking. We also saw a condor (largest bird in the region) fly over, and hiked a few KM through a walkway to get the view from above. Our guide told us “you’re young, you can hike the anything”...while technically not wrong, we were tired from hiking the last week, so a paved/metal walkway was a welcome change of terrain.
And here we have the Mendenhall Glacier...
I love places that make you realise how tiny you and your problems are ... hiking the Europe’s largest glacier was a spectacular experience 😍
“The sky broke like an egg into full purple aura and the water caught fire”
- when the sun hits this mass of ice (it‘s a part of the southern glacier which goes into Lago Grey) the deeper layers of ice just reflect the blue light. That‘s the reason for this beautiful color. I totally blew me away today to see this beauty! 💙
1 more sleep until I’m doing exactly this in Patagonia!! First solo backpacking trip to the most southern city in the world...Only 💩💩💩 myself a little 😱
One of the best hikes in one of the best parks. Grinnell Glacier is just one of many stunning hikes located throughout Glacier. Personally I think Glacier overall boasts the best collection of trails out of all the National Parks.
