A little Further father.
Teach me how to play the guitar, so that I may know the strings to pull when I'm hanging on by a thread,
I need to learn how to swim so that I'm never that drowning man clutching on a straw in the deep end, Teach me how to read so that when the police raid our poor home I can read my own bill of rights,
Teach me how to walk, so that I may walk out of bad relationships and only walk into political fights.
Take me where the wind doesn't blow and the skies are dark and despite the fact that I love the rain, show me why I hate the storm,
Show me true hunger that I may know how cruel the earth can be, maybe that is where my inner desperation and motivation will be born,
Take me into your arms father, and be the first man to dance with me, so that the next one has high standards to beat,
Teach me what a good man should do with his coat, so that I may know how to cut my cloth and the suit will fit.
Show me how fight for my convictions, by accepting me even when I am displaying nothing but idiocy,
There are lessons I will learn when I burn, but you will have to hold my hand and encourage me even if it is in falacy.
Show me rivers dad, rivers of your tears because I need to know that I can break and my pieces will scatter,
Take me to the top of your most sacred mountains, and when we get there, take me a little further, father.
