SERPENT GODDESS MEETS THE PATRIARCH :: LILITH CONJUNCT SATURN // Today as Black Moon Lilith is conjunct Saturn, it feels important to remember the deep relationship between ancient mythology, goddesses, and the serpent/snake. In Hebrew mythology Lilith is Adam’s first wife and her name is from Hebrew Lilith, and Akkadian Lilitu, which is connected by etymology with Hebrew laylah "night." (Sometimes my Master’s degree pays off.)
Lilith has often been symbolized as the snake, though before the bible, there has been a ton of research and evidence about prehistoric snake-worship since 2700 BCE. It’s significant that the Egyptian hieroglyphic for the classifications of both ‘goddess’ and ‘priestess’ was a serpent.
Astrologically in our personal chart Black Moon Lilith is where/how we experience the primal, instinctual feminine and also its suppression. With Black Moon Lilith in Capricorn it is naturally in power with a “buck stops here” mentality that has it together. Or conversely its opposite being encouraged not to have boundaries or to loosen up.
Conjunct Saturn the witchy goddess is connected to or pushing against the archetypal order or structure (lookin’ at you patriarchy). As well as rooting us back to the Earth for our power, the main source of Saturn and Lilith.
