🍄FREEZER MEALS ~ BUSY FAMILIES🍠 I have been making an effort once a month to slow cook some ready made meals and I usually make a pumpkin soup too. I pop the pumpkin soup in the freezer and use in curries and stews to add that 'creamy' texture {You can thank my Nan for that tip 😁} The veggie scraps & peels get made up into a home-made vegetable stock concentrate - also in the freezer in ice cube trays. No waste!
New fitness challenge is swimming 🏊 it's a whole different kind of fitness! If my daughter has to do it for nippers I guess I better as well! Got to keep up with her 🤣 NOT a big fan of chlorine though 😝 I always make sure we have an EPSOM SALT BATH on the days we swim to detox the chlorine. Also extra ZINC to counter the high COPPER you get from these pools! Unfortunately I have seen swimmers in clinic... who have all gotten sick from Glandular fever. All that snot and saliva that goes into the pools spreads that crap around! 🤢Am I making you want to start swimming training? 😜 🤣 every activity has it's risks... Finally (even in mainstream media) the world is starting to realize the detrimental effects of antibiotic overuse – but hey that is a topic for another day. I just wanted to talk about the effects that just ONE dose of antibiotics has on your digestive system. A new study was recently released stating that a single course of antibiotics can disrupt the gut microbiota quantity and composition for up to four years; By taking just one course of antibiotics can lead to a break-down of gut barrier protection (which keeps the bad guys out), increased intestinal permeability (again acts as a protection between the gut and the rest of the body), and subsequent immune dysregulation – which can ultimately contribute to autoimmune conditions, skin problems, mood and hormonal imbalances, food intolerances and allergies and the list goes on! • SELF LOVE • with Valentine’s Day around the corner and the self love group cleanse with @solcleanse next week, I took a moment to stop and reflect on the love I give myself on a regular basis - I’m a naturally loving person in terms of giving love to others - from my work, my partner, family, friends and patients. I thoroughly enjoy making others happy and I really dislike disappointing people - which brought up the question - do I spend enough time loving myself everyday. And the answer was -not enough. I can be more hard on myself then I am kind - especially in the ways that I put a lot of pressure on myself to achieve my goals or tasks (perfectly) , which can put me in a state of stress and anxiety! Sometimes it can be over the littlest things (which is what happened today - and the need for reflection). Sometimes I get caught up in reaching my goals, doing my set tasks, judging myself and trying to please others - that I forget what makes me happy, what makes me feel good and what nourishes my soul! Sometimes I feel guilty for wanting to put myself first, or speaking up on how I feel or taking a short break from my schedule. I even find myself quite judgemental of myself at times - Even choosing this photo my mind (today has been a bit of a spin) was making all kinds of judgements of myself - then I took the time to look at the photo and what it represented in that moment it was taken - and it brought to me the self love aspect - in this moment I was in one of my favourite places, surrounded by some of my favourite people, in a place of relaxation and bliss - a place I felt comfortable and nourished! So after a little bit of a crazy day it reminded me that I need to practice more self love each day - whether that be taking time out from my busy day to plant my feet in the sand and take time to rest and calm my soul, being kinder to myself instead of wanting to fix the things I don’t like, eating - exercising and also resting well, saying no when something doesn’t serve me or just taking a moment to smile at what I have achieved and be damn proud of it!

So this morning I went and signed the contract for my new car - eek! I have never purchased a new car so the decision process has made me a little anxious this week! Candida is an opportunist infection. It takes over when your gut isn't healthy such as after antibiotics or your systems are down such as adrenal fatigue. When you are tired your body can't keep everything in balance.... so bad bacteria or fungal overgrowth such as candida takes over. Nutrient deficiencies such as low ZINC and high COPPER will increase candida. So just going on a candida diet is not addressing the whole problem. Testing I do in clinic often picks up candida. I don't always focus the treatment plan on getting rid of the candida. Sometimes SUPPORT is needed FIRST. Once your body is in balance and feeling strong a candida diet with gut cleanse will be more effective. I have seen people who have been on anticandida diets for MONTHS and when tested - still have candida!! Matcha green tea instead of bulletproof coffee in the morning. Coffee is too acidic for me especially first thing in the morning. It is also very dehydrating which isn't great when on a #keto diet as you are always thirsty... so I decided to change to green tea. So many health benefits to drinking Matcha!! Packed with antioxidants which protect our cells and are #antiaging . Great for your LIVER whereas coffee can throw the liver out of balance. Fibrocystic breast is a sign to stop coffee as is osteoporsis since coffee leeches calcium out of the bones! I found bulletproof coffee in the morning eas too stimulating. It gave me heart palpitation especially when I exercise as well. I know a lot of people like prework out drinks which are loaded with caffiene - but be careful as these can be hard on your adrenals! People with anxiety or adrenal fatigue should limit coffee. Switch to Matcha lattes ✔ Matcha latte for #ketogenic diet is 1/4tsp macha green tea mixed with boiling water. Our body needs glucose but it doesn't need carbohydrates. Your liver will always ensure you have enough glucose in your blood to keep you healthy. Carbohydrates are all the breads / pasta / rice / potato / biscuits etc in our diet. These foods get broken down into glucose and can contribute to having a lot of sugar in our diet. A KETOGENIC diet reduces carbohydrates and focuses on eating high fat instead. Your body shifts from using glucose as fuel to using ketones as fuel. KETONES are a very efficient energy source for our body. People on a ketogenic diet report more energy and no brain fog which I can totally agree with! It makes evolutionary sense to fast or reduce carbohydrates at least for periods in our life as our ancestors would not have had food available ALL the time like we do now. I can honestly say sometimes when I get busy I have to remind myself to sip on water especially when I have patients back to back - however having this detox water each morning has helped me to reset and go back to adding fruit to my water to make it tastier and more enjoyable - a great idea is to prepare the fruit every 3 days, store the cut fruit in a glass jar or container and add it to your glass water bottle to sip on throughout the day. I actually feel AMAZING! So clear and HEAPS of energy! Switching to using FAT instead of glucose for energy has been great! I was having 1 coffee a day to give me energy, sometimes two... but they didn't really help. I was getting tired in the afternoon and wanting to have a nap. I had brain fog. Craved chocolate (70-85% dark 'healthy' chocolate of course 😜) but still I had cravings. Now I am like an ever ready battery 🤣 never ending energy. I have become aware how much WATER affects my energy levels. If i don't drink enough I feel tired. Changing to a #ketogenic diet has been worth it! I have been measuring my ketones at different times of day, but I don't really need to as I can tell when i am in ketosis. Sorry for sharing a picture of my pee stick 🤣 but this is how I am measuring my ketones. You can buy them at the chemist. Positive for ketones means my body is burning FAT for energy! 🙌 BEST diet for #weightloss but I will be aiming to maintain weight and muscle mass.... so more testing to come.
