People call this way of maintaining natural beauty Cosmetic Acupuncture but I personally don’t think of it as being “cosmetic”. Really we are looking to heal the skin, muscles and tissues of the face and work with factors which can help to maintain skin health and a youthful appearance longer.
After all, the earlier you start to use cosmetic fillers, botox injections and surgery the sooner you’re going to have to rely on those methods to maintain a similar level of appearance or simply try to bolster the long term degrading effects those types cosmetic procedures have have. The world is your oyster. But oysters live at the bottom of the sea and remain tight lipped unless forced open. I guess that’s why it’s such a good analogy. The world is full of beautiful pearls but we have to get out there, explore, venture and push further to find them. It’s so easy to sit inside, say you’re tired, been at work all day, tell yourself you deserve a chance to just sit down, but we weren’t meant to sit inside! Make the decision to get outside at least 3 times a week. Try a nature trail near your home, find a natural body of water and become best friends, find a tree you can vibe with, start noticing the nature that surrounds you and feed off it. You have to MAKE the world your oyster, it’s not going to happen if you shut yourself up. Where are you going to go this week? Today I’m heading to Echo beach with my beautiful friend and our kids. Tomorrow, have had a request for a forest venture with another beautiful friend so back to Currumbin valley for us. This morning, tuning in to the majestic gum trees in my backyard. Today I met a woman who’s health had suffered for years, no matter what she does! She can eat very little and very carefully and lose only a couple of kilos over a year. 😱
In talking with her in great depth, it becomes apparent she is overcome with grief 😭

Yesterday I spoke about creating balance in our lives. I try to take Sunday out for “SELF CARE”. This is any activity that ‘gives back to yourself’ - a recharge of the batteries 🔋 for the week ahead! What will you do FOR YOU today??
STRESS!!!! Many is the client who come to see me who say “No, I don’t think I’m stressed” 😩 and when we discuss their past, their upbringing, their disease condition, family life, financial commitments- there is a great deal of stress!!! 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Funny thing is, we as humans, learn to adapt. Most of us think we can ‘handle’ that stress because we do......we keep taking it on, juggling life 🤹♂️ because, well what’s the alternative????? ⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️
One client told me her family banned her from constantly “doing” because she was causing them so much stress!!! Have you ever experienced that? I have!!! Someone who constantly finds stuff to do, stuff to worry about.... so much so, you could cut the air with a knife - so much emotional tension!!!!😮😮
So for those who are ‘coping’ so well with their life (full of stress) why is it your physical health is going astray? 🖊 dietary substances, think: gluten, processed/refined sugar + industrial food additives (18).

Do you know how stress can effect your body?
First of all it causes inflammation throughout the body. It can also cause mental health issues, sleep disturbances, weight gain, fatigue, digestive issues and more.
We now live in a generation where we have so much work, or we are constantly on the go because we are expected to be at a certain level. Meditation, gratitude writing, adequate sleep and breathing techniques are ways to help reduce the effects constant stress can on the body. We all need to take time out to rest at times. Body builders know that rest is just as important as exercise for muscle growth and in life, we also need to balance times of rest and restoration with those times of busy-ness.
Busy-ness is most of the time, but don’t allow it to be ALL THE TIME! The body is such an amazing creation, It will just keep on keeping on as it is designed to sustain LIFE! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
There is a difference between life and LIVING.......that difference is called BALANCE.
Being perfect is not always possible even for me, a humble naturopath. My push- pull back to routine and 100% keto diet consistency is shaded by my need to just chill at this time of year and take a step back. Its school holidays, the weather is my fav and self care and reflection is my top priority in this moment. I know this time will pass but for now taking that step back is the medicine i need.
Perfection is not always possible. So as i enjoy my organic rose', I know i have exercised today and eaten clean. It may not be perfect but it's close enough and it feels good and enough.
Life is about balance not about setting a goal that is not aligned with where you are in this moment.

My son came to me extremely upset tonight, hence a late post..............
He is 25 years old but still suffering emotionally due to something that occurred when he was under 8 years old!! He hasn’t been able to move past the negative feelings this engenders in him. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
He has chosen to avoid ever seeing the person that upsets him so much, but now a major family event (my daughter’s wedding) has him overcome with fear and anger, because he has to come face to face with this person and he worries about what he might do! 😣😣😣
He has allowed the person and the past too much power over the present and he is crippled by emotion when faced with the inevitable. No, the event is not what you might be thinking, I wondered too, BUT his feelings are important to him. Abusive behaviour is not always sexual...........it can be as simple as someone not respecting your boundaries........... not listening to you, bullying you when in a position of power. Uncomfortable situations can be for many different reasons. However, pain is only experienced when you give away your power and assign it to someone else, or some feeling.

What causes brain fog? Lack of sleep and stress are the easy scapegoats. Although contributors, diet plays a far bigger role and, in a vicious cycle, a bad diet leads to stress and lack of sleep and more brain fog. - Goal Setting - If you haven't done it before it may sound a little corny but it is honestly the best way to keep focused on what you want in life… The beginning of the year is one of the most common times people set (or reset) goals. However, you can set goals any time of the year - whether that be at the beginning of each day, each month each week, each quarter or whatever suits you. Remember every day is a new beginning.
When setting goals - it is important to be precise and give detail / date or time. For example a goal I have set is to launch my online program by the end of Feb 2019, I then go into detail of how I am going to achieve this and what needs to be done to reach this goal.
If you are in a couple or have a family - set goals together - both personal and family / couple goals as you can motivate and inspire each other.
You might even want to put a theme word to your goals! This year my theme word (or words) is growth and change - we often become very resistant to change, but we must change to be able to grow. So I am looking forward to putting my goals into action for the year ahead.

Pica is defined as the compulsive craving + purposeful eating of non-food items (1, 2).
Commonly, this may include stuff like ice/frost, dirt, clay or raw rice.🤦🏻♀️
It’s weirder stuff like chalk, ash, baby powder, paint chips, eggshells, etc (1). 🤭
Fun fact: pica gets it’s name from the Latin word for Magpie - a bird famed for collecting and eating weird + unusual shit... So, that totally makes sense!
💬Now, what about those ice cravings of yours?
“Pagophagia, or ice pica, is considered to be very specific to iron deficiency states”(3).
Within the scientific literature, it has been consistently associated with iron deficiency and/or anemia(4), which is the most common nutritional disorder affecting about 1/3 of the population globally (2).
Anemia, an umbrella term for conditions that decrease the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood, is just ONE symptom of #irondeficiency
Some other signs + symptoms of iron deficiency can include:

Mine is connection. It came about when I figured out I work better with a team around me. I figured it out when I started to realise I belonged in certain places and spaces more than others.
It came about when I realised when I stand back, no one gets to see, hear, feel or sense much from me.
Connection to me can feel amazing, fun and like a party. On the flip side it’s scary, sweat-inducing and somewhat terrifying.
Alas, here goes! I’m showing up with grace and seeing how things go 😍 .

WHAT IS CHRONIC FATIGUE? ❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is ‘unrelenting fatigue for no obvious reason that persists for six months or more’. This can be accompanied by- .....
* memory impairment
* post-exertion fatigue
* unrefreshed on waking
* mid-afternoon slump
* mood swings
* headaches & aches, pains
* sore throat or mild fever 🤒 🤒 🤒 🤒 🤒 🤒 🤒
It is important to rule out any potential physical causes - sleep apnoea 💤 anaemia, diabetes, hypothyroidism. .....................................
But here’s the thing....as I have mentioned, my partner suffered CFS for years - no amount of herbal medicine or dietary modification could ‘cure’ it! WHY???? Because his emotional responses due to his core beliefs system continually antagonised his health & were the “drivers” behind his fatigue state. It’s very tiring, stressing all the time!
It’s no mean feat asking a man of 60+ years to change his outlook, let me tell you! 😤🤣😱 But, change he must, because as you know he has been hospitalised with Ulcerative Colitis over Xmas - of which stress is a major contributor!
