Day 3 (Part 1) - Sept 9th
Experienced my first Thai breakfast. For this I chose miso soup, followed by chocolate cereal, finished up with fried fish and noodles of some sort. Washed down with orange and apple juice of course.
Fed and watered we headed out into Bangkok, past a fort built with stone/bricks taken from one of the previous ancient capitals.
Onto the public boat/ferry system, we travelled to the Grand Palace. My god it was a hot day, plus we had to be covered down to our ankles out of respect, we were melting!! (Hence the choice to exclude photos of people at this point, I don't think anyone would appreciate it). These were the first set of temple buildings I had seen and they were just incredible. So much gold!!! Everywhere! I couldn't believe it. Also there was a model/statue of Angkor Wat, because why not? Sadly I was allowed to take a picture of the Emerald Buddha.
There was also a lot of hints of Hindu architecture and mythology everywhere mixed in with the Buddhism which I found interesting. Then we got to hear lots of school children singing traditional songs (hymns?), each stand had children of different ages, the ones I videodwould have been the oldest.
After the Grand Palace we hit the river again for a tour, there were this big ass containers being pulled along by relatively small tug boats, grey navy boats and royal long boats. Plus we got to feed the fishes :D.
We ended Bangkok with lunch and saw this cute little man riding his cart in a suit selling his wares.
