This Sunday, meet Santorini’s own George Gavalas!
Winemaker George Gavalas is currently touring the United States and we are privileged to host him for one evening only, this coming Sunday, February 24th.
It will be an informal affair, no jacket required, where we will have the opportunity to discuss the history of his winery and the island of Santorini in general, hear about recent developments in the Greek terroir and taste some of his brilliant wines.
More than a few of our customers have been enjoying the Gavalas Winery's famous blue bottle of Assyrtiko wine to accompany their meal at Our Mom Eugenia. The bright white wine is bone-dry and crisp, with notes of pear, citrus and pineapple, a flavor profile that we feel pairs well with our seafood dishes and light appetizers.
The 2017 vintage was recently awarded a gold medal at the Texsom International Wine Awards, held annually in Dallas, Texas. The Wine Advocate gave it an impressive 92 points, commending its "impeccable balance" and "fresh and clean finish". We'll offer our regular menu on Sunday, along with some pairing suggestions for the Gavalas vintages showcased that evening. No set menu or special tickets for this event. Reservations can be made on the phone or via OpenTable. Seating is limited.
