And so it begins...
We kicked off our new #partnership
working with @livingunderonesun
yesterday and we couldn't be happier. Our core team and superstar volunteers - Denise, Tammy and Tammy's lovely youngsters Sunny, Missy and Elsie - assembled at @luos_cafe
to start work on the many raised beds they have there; getting them cleared, prepped and tidy.
There's plenty of exciting stuff coming together at the cafe which is currently receiving a facelift with a mural painted by local artist - @stedhead_art
- and lots more at their #allotments
down the road on Tottenham Marshes. We can't wait for all of you to come along and get involved!
We'll be making announcements on when our regular volunteer days here will be very soon via Instagram and our newsletter. You can sign up on the contact page of our website to keep up to date with announcements.
Can't wait to show you this incredibly #inspirational
community project and how we're working with them to help feed and educate the surrounding community.
A part of the garden salad mix currently in the Veggie Patch, Rocket for a peppery addition and Red Sorrel to add in some colour and a slight sourness.
This rainbow chard has the most magnificent stalks. They remind me of the “Purple Dragon” carrots I have grown previously - a striking mix of red, pink and orange ❤️💗🧡 The rainbow chard stalks are especially tasty. In fact, I think I prefer the stalks to the leaves in some ways! They are so tender (when gently cooked) and are so vibrant in a dish! How do you like to eat your rainbow chard? 🌈
My first amazing Red Burgundy Okra flower! Too bad this plant hasn’t grown very well at all 😂 let’s hope the new seedlings that have just sprouted grow better, until then I’ll just enjoy how gorgeous this flower is!
F•R•U•I•T | Gak sia2 ngecekin kebun. Dapet sawo 9biji. Biar keliatan penuh dan warna warni keranjangnya disumpal mangga lagi.
Udah bosan blom liat mangga? Hehe.. Mango season udah mau abis. Buah nya udah minim banget. Paling gak ada 20kg sisanya di pohon. Sebagian juga malah udah di PO teman2. Makasih yaa..

Garden goodness to fill our chickpea crepes 🌱
Native sea parsley (aka sea celery) growing in one of my raised beds. Once it gets bigger & fuller I’m keen to try making a native style bush food tabouli with it 🌱
Classic curly kale: our next target, now that the Cavolo Nero is off the menu, as the plants go into their flowering cycle.
Learning about cold hardyness 💚 and marigolds ain't got it. 🙈 Makes for a cool motive though. #10010
Life under the potato canopy. How lush does this look...

Not long now my yellow lovelies. Love that zucchinis are soooo easy to grow.
🥒 Worked with my dear friend Amanda and her hubby, Francis this weekend on their Kitchen Garden vision. We laid some cardboard to kill the grass and added bricks for weight and some partially decomposed grass clippings on top to start to build soil. Come spring, this site will be ready for soil amendments, seeds and plants. Stay tuned as we transform this space!
Bit of organised chaos for this week's grocery shop
After a full weekend of Christmas catchups, Parkrun, work, dodging the heat then the storms I ended up getting the groceries at 8pm last night without a list or any clue at all what the plans are for this week #wingingit
So a bit of the usual, got a produce box from one of the wagga greengrocers - all the produce shown except 2 bunches of bananas and the container of mushrooms
Then bread and assorted bakery markdowns from Woolworths, and 2 salted caramel cakes for $1.40 down from $7 each! A cheap splurge 🙈
Coles for a few regular items
Not shown is 1 cans of dog food and a box of cat food
Meals this week will be worked out today and shared
Have a great week everyone!
Yellow button squash also known as the pattypan squash, they are yummy when baked, steamed or stir fried #squahseason
Let's be honest, I ate at least four times that amount of hollandaise, just loaded it on there after I took the photo 😂. It's my first official day of holidays/uni break so I thought I'd treat myself with homemade brunch and what's brunch without #hollandaisesauce
? This is simple dairy free version.
Bring some water to the boil then lower to a simmer, covering it with a heat proof mixing bowl (careful not to touch the water). Add 3 egg yolks and 2 tbsp of room temperature water and whisk until double the size and pale yellow and fluffy. Add nuttlex one teaspoon at a time until melted in and incorporated. Take off the heat, whisk in teaspoon of acv then salt and pepper to taste. Let the sauce stand for s couple of minutes to thicken further.

I think Kohlrabi is the coolest looking veggies 🤔 😁 I keep admiring it every time in the garden 😍💜😍💜
The weather is finally under 70 degrees here in So Cali, perfect for cool weather veggies!
Since our first batch got fried by a hot fall, @calicameraguy
and I had fun replanting our fall (now winter) garden this morning.
Watch the vid that just dropped on YouTube (link in profile) and enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
The only tomato seedling still have label is from ‘unknown tomato’ 🤔
Breakfast this morning was a delicious combination. A frittata made with our homegrown organic chives and eggs. A variation of morning glory muffins, semi-homemade (does anyone else think morning glory muffins are like the garbage bars of the muffin world?). And a totally NOT homegrown (or organic, for that matter) pineapple...believe me, we tried to grow them. We got one a few years ago, half the size of what you find in stores. None of them since have grown very well and we’ve pretty much given up on them.
The kids were fed, happy, healthy. That matters more to me than making everything from scratch. The time I saved was spent making LEGO creations with the littlest. And as wonderful as it would be to grow everything ourselves, organic, we just don’t have the space for it all, or the time/ability to harvest and process it all. So, we choose to grow the things that matter the most and buy the rest. Organic, when possible, but sometimes not. And that’s okay too. We do the best we can.
