April has been a weird month, workout-wise. I let my gym membership lapse because I had a free week trial at a different fitness studio and then I had a week’s vacation coming up. Trying something new was great - the studio offers dance, yoga and meditation classes, and it felt SO great to get back to some heated yoga. I even noticed some huge improvements in some strength poses like crow. 💪 Now I’m on vacation and I had hoped to work out more than I have but my littlest was sick and the fitness class schedule never lined up, so today I finally went to the indoor gym. I looked up an old saved post and got inspiration from a @fitwithbritworkouts
from February, plus I added a few bonuses at the end.
I started with some sun salutations to warm up (and because, hello hotel-mattress-back-syndrome 👋).
Then did 45sec on, 15 sec rest, three times through:
Sumo squat hops
(Then I added some upper body:
Bicep curls / platters
Bent over arm rows
Overhead tricep thingies(?)
Then I still had some energy so I added this, twice through;
10 shoulder tap to knee taps
10/10 one legged hip thrusts
10 incline reverse crunches
10 incline leg lifts
And ended with some more sun salutations.
I’m probably not naming everything correctly but 🤷♀️. I remember coming to this indoor gym last year on vacation and thinking how proud I was of myself for just doing that, which was so unlike me a few years ago (I would’ve spent the kids nap on the balcony with a beer) and I’m still proud of myself this year but I noticed I’m way more confident in what I’m doing. I felt a little embarrassed or sheepish last year and this year I’m kicking my own butt and don’t care who else is in here (see also: A MO’FO GYM SELFIE #WhoEvenAmI
