Yesterday I (Bev) had my first vegan restaurant experience ever. I was accompanied by @peach_eats
aka Susan who has an amazing Instagram full of yummy vegan food (also happens to be my bestest friend of many years). We were meant to go to Hackney Downs vegan market to review some food for an unofficial first collab but because TfL likes to ruin lives and make people late on a daily basis, we got there as it was closing sob sob. So we went to @mildredsrestaurants
instead! 📍Where: Mildred’s, Dalston
🍴What: Tandoori “chicken” (with black dahl, roti bread, raita, carrot and nigella seed salad, mango chutney, lime), Gyozas and Cornbread with chilli lime butter
💰Price: £13 for the Tandoori chicken, £6 for the Gyoza and £3 for the Cornbread.
💭 Bev says: it was a bit of a let down that I wasn’t able to go to Hackney Downs vegan market however it didn’t even matter after the meal I had. I eat meat however I do like to eat meat free alternatives at times and this Tandoori “chicken” absolutely could have passed for real chicken. Everything was so flavourful and colourful, I loved it! The cornbread was really light and the chilli lime butter tasted amazing with it. Also those gyozas were some of the best I’ve had.
To meet or not to meet: Whether you’re a vegan, vegetarian, meat eater or whatevertarian, I definitely think @mildredsrestaurants
is one to meet and I would go again just for that Tandoori “Chicken” dish 🤤
