We set off for a drive over the Chele La Pass between Paro and Haa. First we skirted a large valley with a monastery matchbox sized in the distance.
We climbed higher and higher until we came to the snowline. We wanted to visit Kila Nunnery, the oldest nunnery in Bhutan but the snow made the drive up too dangerous. The nunnery is a tiny speck between the trees in the third photo.
We continued to Chele La where the brightly coloured prayer flags stood out crisp and clear against the snow. The pass is 3998 metres above sea level.
Once over the pass, we could see a range of snow-capped mountains before we descended the hairpin bends into the Haa Valley. #Bhutan#Chele La #Haa
