Fasted before breakfast and up until the 20k mark before having a gel and some isotonic. “It’s supposed to be hard. If it wasn’t hard, everyone would do it. The hard is what makes it great.” •• I’ll be honest, I hated lifting weights. •• In college, I would even skip 6am lifting practice. 🤦🏼‍♀️ •• Now I lift about 4-5xs a week. •• What has helped me: •• - being consistent. Like running, right? •• - working out with Q (my boyfriend) pushes me and makes me try new things...I mean have you seen some of the stuff he does 😉 ... but go with a friend or someone who will encourage you to level up. •• - try a plan. I did @kayla_itsines #bbg for the longest time because I could do it in my house before I went and ran. But it took the guessing out of it. . •• - Where are you weak? Glutes? Hamstrings? Core? Back? Start researching functional movements for those areas and use compound movements to strengthen them. I mean we lift to be able to go through our daily lives right? •• - Switch up the workout to avoid boredom! I never do the same workout sequence twice. I’m always switching it up. & if I do get bored, I go to a class like cycle, yoga, HIIT, to learn something new or have someone else tell me the workout. . •• Do you strength train?? What questions do you have about it? I’ll try to answer in a future post! ••
11weeks to SCSM Rest Day Treatment is required to aid in faster recovery. Grab down to chinatown. I am already number 10 in the queue at 8.15am. Took a queue number for evening session after work. Told the sinseh that i can run, sprint and jump except bending my back backwards. Good to have treatment done and nothing serious with the back ache. So did a thing today that I’ve been talking about for years now... SIGNED UP FOR MY 1st HALF MARATHON! I know I’ve been slacking on my #running post but I promise I’m still hitting the streets and the treadmill racking in 92 miles so far this month. My goal to surpass 120 miles before October between working full time, training for my Fight and continue training/education around T1D. I’m making a point to run 2-7 miles a day 6x a week at this point and feeling a-ok. Since I am now an ambassador for several awesome organizations (such as @typeonerun @im_greaterthan ) I want to show off what this little diabetic can do and inspire people to get out of their comfort zones and take chances. Heute bin ich glaube ich zum ersten Mal einen 1/3 Marathon gelaufen 😅. Es waren zwar nur 350 Starter auf dieser Distanz, aber wir sind die letzten 14km von der Marathonstrecke mitgelaufen, also war man nie allein 😊. Da ich immer noch nicht ganz gesund bin, bin ich das Ganze mit einer Freundin im gemütlichen Tempo gelaufen ☺️.
