As most of you know, I’m a huge baseball fan and follow it throughout the year.
This is why I felt like opening this years 12 days of Christmas with one of the biggest stories out of the MLB this season.
Just wait, I’ll have more stories coming out of MLB this year, and especially since the winter meetings are taking place right now, there’s tons of news.
So, here we go…
Some call it Moneyball 2.0.
Whatever you prefer to call it, Shohei Ohtani was the most sought-after free agent in all of baseball this off-season.
There was no rookie with more hype than Shohei Ohtani, and the two-way Japanese star delivered.
With his nearly unhittable splitter, Ohtani electrified MLB with 61 strikeouts and four wins on the mound.
He’s also shown a quick bat, hitting .289 with six home runs.
Based on his career so far in his native Japan, the 23-year-old star, who signed with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, may turn out to be the first player since Babe Ruth who can both pitch and hit at a major-league level.
Even during a game this season, Ohtani had a perfect game through six innings and ended with seven strikeouts. Oh, and this was after hitting home runs in three straight games as the Angels designated hitter.
His starts and his at-bats the first two months of the season were must-watch viewing.
He showcased ace potential on the mound, including a memorable 12-strikeout, one-hit outing over seven innings in his second start.
It was something we had never seen before and baseball fans around the globe craved to see.
Hope you enjoyed this first story for 12 days of Christmas, and I will be counting down to spring training just like before and I am going to add something new.
I am able to provide you with official MLB swag from your favorite team.
