I think I might have to keep this one for myself you guys, I think so 😍
EEE! Brace yourselves, story time. Remember that time on Nov. 5, 2016 where I was so excited about my haul of 6 fleeces that I bought myself for my birthday from @nefiberfestival
? I had just learned to spin. That haul included 2 Icelandic, 3 alpaca, and 1 llama fleece. I stored them in air tight, waterproof buckets with silicone packets, and I had even begun to wash the Icelandic locks one by one. Well, the following January we up and moved from Vermont to Virginia and I lost two of the 6 when my car was stolen not even a week into living in Virginia. I kick myself almost daily for toting those around with me in my car. They were silver and they were gorgeous. I immediately took the remaining 4 to the Central Virginia Fiber Mill to be processed into roving. .
Well yesterday I got them back and I'm excited and all warm and fuzzy (literally) all over again. I had forgotten just how gorgeous those fleeces were. I mean, do you see that mahogany alpaca? To. Die. For. I'm pumped to get my wheel working overtime. Do you have a favorite story about fleeces you've coveted? I need to know.
Clockwise from upper left: Icelandic lopi, black llama with a smidgen of black Merino to help it card, charcoal alpaca, and mahogany alpaca. .

I picked up some bright pink wild looking roving at SAFF last October. It is spinning up into a delightful art yarn. This will be a great weft yarn.
The shop will be back open soon with a couple fresh listings. How about this super bulky lockspun yarn? 😍
My first attempt at a traditional 3-ply fingering weight, and I think I’ve mostly succeeded! The colors remind me of my mom’s old 80’s jackets and it’s super rad 😉 .

The start of a new project and my inspiration to make. Twenty years ago I committed to keep a flock of sheep for their entire lifespan. This is Evelyn and Pinky. Don’t you think it was so worth it? Now I have no sheep but you can read about their lifetime with me here https://www.thewoolworks.com/field-notes/im-sheepless. I’ve saved some fleece. It’s loaded with sentiment and memories and meaning. I’ll start to card it now. Then spin, weave, and sew. #clothingfromscratch #weavetosew #slowfashion #sewcialists #handmadeclothing #wool #handspun #handwoven
Ultimate goal: collect enough dog hair to make a weaving lol my inspiration comes from the Coast Salish Blankets woven from the Woolly Dog #dogyarn #handspun #naalyéhé
🌱Still trying to cup up with a name for this guy, any ideas?
Had some time to finally get around to finishing up these batches and getting some photos || super psyched with how this one turned out

I don't have time to knit for Leora, but fortunately she has plenty of hand-me-downs from her sisters.
