WHO NEEDS TV COMMERCIALS WHEN YOU CAN HAVE A COOL SOCIAL MEDIA MINI FILM?! Really though, people have less time to watch television these days but are able to scroll through their phones just about anywhere at anytime. I love making these business promo videos but it’s not just about advertising, it’s about creating visual imagery that gives you a behind the scenes look into what a business is all about. I may shoot the footage and put these videos together but really it’s a whole collaboration of amazing people and creative minds that go into it. I also really love what Heather (@tula.blue
) had to say and I’ll leave y’all with that -
“I read a quote recently & it rings so true. “Behind every successful women is a tribe of other successful women who have her back.” I don’t know how I’ve been so blessed. I am surrounded by so many strong, creative, talented women who each contribute in one way or another to what is Tula Blue. Without whom, none of this would be possible. Feeling so damn grateful for what is. And always excited for what’s to come! Enjoy 💙 ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨”

This was us after #stitchessocal
hence our absence on social media over the past week!! It was a crazy, beautiful time and we could not be more thankful for all of you who came to shop at our booth! Thank you to our amazing dyers, we love y’all so much! If you haven’t already, make sure you go check out their work on our site and their instas! This is a skein of yarn I spun. The fiber was grown by Romney and Icelandic sheep at @wildleafarm
(~60 miles from my apartment) and processed at Battenkill Fibers (~180 miles from my apartment). I purchased the fiber from the farmers at the 79th Street Greenmarket (~6 miles from my apartment). For me, the joy of spinning is that it brings you closer to the wool production process. You are connected to the fiber and the mill and the farmers and the animals in a different way, because you witness the fiber turn from fluff into yarn. I love that there is a local wool network in and around New York. It means I can follow my wool’s journey, and that I know my farmers!
Tried my hand at macrame wall hanging. This is my own design made with 100% handspun wool. The wool was spun by the lady I bought my spinning wheel from. If I get as good as her then that will be awesome. This will be for sale in my booth at the Livingston trade days this weekend.

Batt making today! Keep an eye out, I’ll be adding loads of batts to the shop in the next day or so!
My co worker teased me saying winter is my favorite season because I get to wear all the stuff I made. Favorite season is Fall. Winter in MN is not something I can get used to it. Wearing handspun felicity hat and jasmine scarf (not handspun). Though I do admit, these handknitted items are warm.

So a couple days ago I was brave and tried spinning yarn on a drop spindle. Let’s just say I have NO CLUE what I am going to do with this hot mess. I HATED using this gorgeous fiber in my first attempt, and wouldn’t you know the practice fiber I packed three months ago for my husband to send me got here THE NEXT DAY😑. Anyhoo, the park and draft method is my friend right now and I honestly don’t know if I will ever be good at it *sigh*. But cheers for trying something new eh????? #spinning #knittersofig #handspun #dropspindle #yarn #handmade #knitter #knittersofinstagram #fiberart #fiber #wool
three years ago we welcomed the sweet sheep to live with us on the mountain and what an extraordinary journey that has been. ✨
we tucked some of the wool from that first shearing away while we contemplated a plenty lot of other things. ✨
in the meantime, our sister in law, Jane of all trades knitted up a test swatch which we turned into a cuff and put one of the three hole olive wood buttons on. ✨
the cuff and companion balls of white sat quietly for a very long time and we thought about them from time to time, just now pulling them out to inspect and noticing that stitching on the button forms a heart and thinking those flowers hold a special honor.
these are the thoughts that swirl in. so grateful here for the slow space.
Spring blossom socks. Handdyed by me too.
