😲 ‘Wow, I could never do that..’
Is likely what Kalpana said before she started training with us.
So don’t judge yourself based on what you can’t do now, you have the potential to unlock doors you thought were jammed shut and achieve goals you wouldn’t dare say out loud.
That being said no one ever achieved anything sitting on the sidelines, you have to get your hands dirty.
Simply starting is how you go from fearing your goals to achieving them.
Damp Autumn day. Even at noon the street lights were on. This is on #Harrowonthehill
where things are historic.
Your week may have been a right bitch
You may have a tonne of crap to complain about
And you may feel like giving up and crying yourself into a pit of self wallow
The only way you can move on and soar is to pick yourself up and smile through all of life’s BS.
Stay optimistic and keep on going 🧡
For the 6 weeks or so I’ve been eating to lose body fat and been doing great.
I’ve stuck to my nutrition, trained hard and got my steps in as a result, my weight has dropped regularly and I look and feel much better for it.
That being said for the past two weeks ever since my mate's wedding I’ve been eating like a complete jack arse.
What that means is I haven’t stuck to my nutrition goals, in fact last week I had a takeaway every single day.
Don’t ask me why, I don’t know what it was, maybe it was self-sabotage, or just that I needed to ‘smash’ a few heavy meals, I just went a bit nuts.
So when I stepped on the scale again on Monday morning this week it was no shock to me that I had made zero progress and set myself back about two weeks.
The very next day though I was almost a kilo lighter (0.9kg), and today I’m 2 kgs lighter.
So how did I turn things around and see such rapid results after gaining just shy of 2 kilos over a two week period?
I’ll tell you how.
I simply stopped eating like a jack arse and started eating the way I was when I was seeing progress.
(That’s hitting calories and protein targets, eating lean protein sources, veg, filling carbs and a little bit of what I fancied btw)
See you don’t need to do any fancy fasts, detox diets or punish yourself after eating like a jack arse.
You draw a line in the sand, and start eating better.
Now you may not lose as much weight as I did in the first week, mine was probably down to losing a lot of water weight as I was eating less processed and salty meals, but you will make progress towards your ultimate goal, and at the very least feel better for it.
Sorry if that disappointed you as you were expecting a magic pill.
There are no shortcuts.
Loving the Autumn Colours and the rustling of the leaves! 🍁 🍁 🍁 Beats playing on a device any day! Get out and about, take in some fresh air and enjoy our beautiful outdoors @harrow.parks #happyharrow

Are you ok? World Mental Health Day is a day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma. “Every year one adult in four, along with one child in ten, will have a mental health issue. These conditions can profoundly affect literally millions of lives, affecting the capability of these individuals to make it through the day, to sustain relationships, and to maintain work. The stigma attached to mental health causes a damaging, albeit ill-informed, attitude, making it more difficult for those affected to pursue help. According to UK estimates, only about one-fourth of those with mental health problems undergo ongoing treatment. By stark contrast, the vast majority of those affected with these problems are faced with a variety of issues, ranging from isolation to uncertainty on where to get help or information, to relying on the informal support of family, friends or colleagues” Taken from: www.awarenessdays.com
As a nurse, mental well-being and mindset are extremely important to me. Let’s spread the word, stop the stigma and support each other.
