It was the first day of Fall! 🍂🍁🍄 This is my favourite time of year. The time to #harvest
all that was earned through sweat and blood, to #reap
what was #sown
, to put up and put away, to push hard one last time and fill the #rootcellars
and freezers for the long cold #winter
Time to race the ever-shortening rays of sunlight as the continue their waning #journey
across the #land
and to pray we’ve done enough.
Time to dream of the #rest
that the winter season is meant to bring.
And for me, my world is trapped between living a #seasonal
existence as I believe we were meant to, and serving in modern society where the need never stops, where there is no time for rest, no #season
the effort we’ve put in; just an ever turning demand for more.
of a time when I can be privileged enough to pull away from this and give myself all the space and #grace
yearns for. When we are tired after working so hard for so long, to be blessed with the chance to deeply #rest
. I fully believe this is what winter was meant for and we humans have mucked it all up.
The only chance I’ve ever experienced this was when on #maternity
leave from my day job - can’t say that was truly restful, but it was certainly a different pace, different challenges and I welcomed it.
I’ve been jealous of those in roles that allow for #sabbaticals
. That sounds really wise to me.
What do you dream of?
