👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽“HEY IT’S THAT GUY!” For the second week of this series, the spotlight is on another guy who had one hell of a 2018. With five films and two series under his belt last year alone, Bill Camp is definitely a face you have seen, and will definitely be seeing more of. He already has three films on the horizon this year, one of which is Todd Phillip’s highly anticipated take on the Joker (also co-starring last week’s Shea Whigham!). Let’s have a look…
Name: Bill Camp
From: Groton, Massachusetts
Born: October 13, 1961
First Film: Reversal of Fortune (1990)
Notable roles: Dennis Box (The Night Of), David Burton (The Leftovers), Warren Miller (Wildlife), Samurai Seven (Damages), Doak (Midnight Special), Harlan Eustice (Molly’s Game), Robert Chesney (The Looming Tower), Gerald Ford (Vice)
Camp may have been an esteemed theater actor showing up in bit parts here and there throughout the '90s, but his big breakout was in 2016 with the HBO miniseries, The Night Of, where he starred as by-the-books Det. Dennis Box. After earning himself a well-deserved Emmy nom for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series/Movie for the role, Camp has been on fire, elevating most of the films he has been in with some standout supporting work. Take a look at his work in Molly’s Game and Wildlife, two solid movies with extremely talented actors. In both, Camp’s roles could have easily been throwaway parts (In Molly’s Game he plays one of the poker players in Jessica Chastain’s card games, and in Wildlife as Carey Mulligan’s boss/suitor), yet he manages to steal every scene he’s in (don’t believe me, check them out). Never flashy or too over-the-top, Camp is as good a character actor as any that you’ll find working today.
