Yesterday’s coffee spot ☕️ @ Haystack Rock, Oregon Coast 🌊
“I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where,
I love you simply, without problems or pride:
I love you in this way because I don’t know any other way of loving”.............
I am so excited for these two to view their wedding photos! It was such a beautiful day on the Oregon coast and they picked such great colors blue and yellow! Oh and socks, oh and cake, oh and gifts for the crew!!!! Who am I kidding they had the perfect day with so much love and beautiful.
You know, I started writing a few different long sappy Alexis captions for this photo. But I am seriously just overwhelmed by the Lords favor over my life. The fact that He has sent me to Oregon. The fact that He cares SO DANG MUCH to send me on adventures to amazing places like Philly but also adventures to see a freakin’ ROCK on the coast of Oregon that was in one of my top 5 favorite movies. He cares enough to love me and give me little blessings daily. Yesterday, it was hanging out with two amazing adoptive sisters (hollaaaaaaa for 11 sisters now 🤷🏾♀️) but also, literally making my little heart happy by letting me see this rock. If you think The Lord doesn’t care about the little things, ya’ll are dang mistaken. He does. He loves you. And He wants to show you how much He loves to. There are so many ways He shows me daily He loves me. And yesterday this was it. This was how He showed me. Because ya’ll, Goonies never say die ❤️
Oregon Coast Pt. 10. PUFFINS 😍
At several of the other places I had stopped previously I had meticulously scanned the offshore rocks for the supposed nesting Tufted Puffins and hadn’t seen any. Cannon Beach was the last stop before heading inland, so I made sure to arrive at low-tide to get as close as possible. As I approached Haystack Rock, I saw a couple of photographers with long lenses including with one on a tripod pointed up. I struck up a conversation with the woman and she pointed out the two nesting Puffins she was photographing in the thick grass on the rock above! They were still so far away with my 18-400 lens, but I made the best of it, and spent the next 30 minutes taking 220 photos of them. As I stood there, I began to see more and more of them resting in the grass, diving down off the cliff and flying out and back while searching for fish in the water below. They were tough to see and photograph against such a grey sky but their unique flight pattern and shape immediately became noticeable amongst the hundreds of Common Murres also flying around. This was definitely my favorite new bird species of the entire trip!

Oregon Coast Pt. 9. Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach.
Haystack Rock at Cannon Bach is probably the most recommended “iconic” place to visit on the Oregon Coast. I made sure to time our visit at low-tide in order to walk all the way out to the rock’s base and hopefully get the best views of a particular nesting species of bird (see tomorrows post!). Despite the cloudy gray spitting rain (Oregoners must get used to this), it was pretty crowded, complete with school busses and children. I suppose what makes this rock so unique is it’s proximity to the shore and therefore it’s accessibility at low-tide? Thankfully though there were signs to keep everyone back off the actual rock and to help protect the avian and sea life. If anyone ends up visiting here, don’t miss Sleepy Monk Coffee Roasters in town!

Not the best picture of Haystack Rock but Christopher’s eyeballs are 😍💙. ZOOM IN on those bad boys.
Stuck Between a Rock and a Good Place.
Back home with hazardous smoke conditions and am really missing this place! #haystackrockoregon
