Woke up so grateful to be alive today. Here’s something we don’t like to address: post show weight gain. Or weight gain in general. Body image. Phew! 2 months post show and in those 8 weeks I thought my biggest issues were post show blues. When I was prepping I thought my biggest issues were prep life. But, they aren’t. I’m way privileged to say I can compete and I have the resources to do so. The left is 1 day out from the Natural Ohio, and the right is yesterday morning. I’m not going to sit here and act like I know everything about reversing or competing. I have so much to learn and to improve on. But what I can say is your mind gets a little trippy when it comes to what really matters. What gives you light in your life. Don’t forget about that! I see so much progress between these two pictures. I am today healthy and happy. Not preoccupied with food or how I’m looking. Here’s an update:

Weight - doesn’t matter
Strength - ridiculous
Cardio - lmao
Mindset - push the weight eat the food
Got up 5:30 this morning for jury duty🤦🏼♀️. Got all the lights on for my dogs so they don’t feel left alone. Pray for me not get selected. Good morning 🌞
Shoulder pump, after the workout this morning 💪🏼 what I see and feel is slow but steady progress (and heavy sweat under the armpit lol, it looks like hairs but I swear it’s not). In January I challenged myself to work my way up to one full un-assisted pull-up by the end of the year. Then life and a shoulder injury happened. Outcome: I will surely fail on this challenge, but not on my overall progress 🤷🏻♀️ I am now working a lot of iso holds and carries and stabilization training into my training schedule (which thanks to my coach @nic_barto
now also involves a lot of back, helping support the work of my shoulders and avoid injury 😇). Similarly, I stopped adding more and more weight into my squats and I am now focusing on going deeper (mobilization and adding a set of pancakes under my heels seems to help) and making my movements slow and clean. Myrrh is lovely, lovely oil... and not just because it was given to baby Jesus😘.
I have found myrrh to be amazing for the skin!! I make a night facial “cream” made of frankincense, myrrh, & lavender with coconut oil. It’s like heaven for your face.
For those who don’t know, my husband broke his leg earlier this year, and had to have a rod put in his leg😖. I was putting myrrh on his surgical cuts every day, along with lavender. Those cuts were so nasty looking, ordinarily I wouldn’t have touched them because I’m *squeamish*, I told my husband it’s a good thing I love him😂. But the areas where the cuts were are looking fantastic now! .

Prone press up
Ok. So what to do if you're having back pain with pain or numbness that goes down your leg? .
First of all, refer to the previous post's step 1. Don't freak out. You're going to be ok. .
The prone press up is a basic exercise that can have a profound effect on resolving back pain with radicular symptoms. .
Key pointers: Straighten the elbows completely each press up and look up toward the ceiling. We want all that extension, baby. Keep the back saggy; do not allow the low back or lower body to tighten. .
Use this if: Pain in legs improves with press ups (sometimes back pain will increase as leg pain decreases. This is ok). Some pain in the low back DURING the press up is ok. It is NOT ok if pain remains worse. .
Repeat 10 times, hourly, as often as needed until symptoms resolve.
Stop using this if: Pain remains in legs or gets worse, or if pain in low back worsens and remains worse. This exercise works or it doesn't. If it doesn't, seek out a medical professional to determine the source of your pain.
Remember, this is one piece of the back pain equation, and will not work for everyone. Extension is by no means a catch all for all radicular symptoms, but is one option for you to try to help manage your pain.

cinnamon crumb muffins!! paleo, gf, and df! so easy and great for a quick grab before an 8:30 class 🙃
2 c almond flour
1/2 c maple syrup
1/2 c coconut sugar
splash of milk
2 tb melted coconut oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt ———————————
2 tb coconut sugar
1/4 c coconut flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tb coconut oil
Mix all muffin ingredients together and bake for 18 mins at 350 F.
Combine dry crumble ingredients before kneading in the coconut oil. Add the crumble to the top about 10 mins into baking.
