I love my colleagues- we have worked hard to provide the best patient care possible...yet why would they provide stroke causing food at our stroke committee meeting this morning? Bacon, cheese, cream, eggs, sugar laden yogurt and sugar drinks. This is common place for breakfasts around America with hospitals being no exception. Very ironic. I just snagged three bananas and then thoroughly enjoyed a heaping bowl of fruit oatmeal after the meeting was over. I would love to be an agent for change within the healthcare setting...starting with ourselves. (Again, I love my colleagues. I work for a great health system and we do a lot of good...we can just do a little better)

Yesterday, I spoke about challenges and trying to look at them as an opportunity for self-reflection. Running this half marathon was a challenge, it took months of training, a lot mental prep work to be able to run 13.1 miles and I had to really focus in on achieving my goal.
It’s the same in life and hitting six figure success. It can be a challenge, take months, or years of training, theirs the mental prep work in being confident in knowing your worth, and you have to really focus in on your goal to achieve it.

In the developed world most deliveries occur in hospital, while in the developing world most of them take place at home with the support of a traditional birth attendant.
The most common way of childbirth is a vaginal delivery. It involves three stages of labour: the shortening and opening of the cervix, descent and birth of the baby, and the delivery of the placenta. The first stage typically lasts twelve to nineteen hours, the second stage twenty minutes to two hours, and the third stage five to thirty minutes. The first stage begins with crampy abdominal or back pains that last around half a minute and occur every ten to thirty minutes. The crampy pains become stronger and closer together over time. During the second stage pushing with contractions may occur. In the third stage delayed clamping of the umbilical cord is generally recommended. A number of methods can help with pain such as relaxation techniques, opioids, and spinal blocks.
Most babies are born head first; however about 4% are born feet or buttock first, known as breech.

In continuaiton with Susan’s dilemma let's talk about the admission process for hospice: The nurse comes you and goes through the admission which involves signing the consent for your mom to initiate hospice services. If she is not able or oriented to sign, then the MPOA (medical power of Attourney) will be the one to sign for your mom. Coordination of services to be provided will be done upon admission regarding medications, DME (wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds) and verbal certification from the hospice medical doctor who will oversee your moms care. “Weed your garden?” “What garden?”
“I don’t even like gardening!”. This was my first response to my mom when she said this to me.
At the time I didn’t get what the reference was or how it was even relevant. I was going through a major teenage crisis, what did gardening and weeds have to do with anything. I wanted advice that was going to make me feel better not landscaping tips.
However, as I’ve gotten older this saying has become one of my favorite sayings. I say it to anyone who comes to me for advice after a major life crisis or is in a state of transition. “You have to weed your garden.” They usually look at me puzzled just like I did when my mom first said it to me.
“Weeding your garden” is the perfect metaphor for the steps to take when you are going through a challenging time or major transition. It’s during these times usually your garden is messy, full of weeds, and needs tending to, so it’s a great time for self-reflection.
Breaking this down further. You start with pulling your weeds (stopping bad habits), putting down good soil (getting the foundation ready), planting seeds and flowers (looking at opportunities for personal growth and development), and watering your garden daily (giving yourself self-love).
One of my realizations is that after any good weeding, great things start to happen. Looking back, it was after a major breakup when I got my promotion to a Director level moving toward my six-figure success. Go Figure!
Challenges are hard and can break you if you let them. However, if you look at every challenge as a time to “weed your garden” then you’ll have your flowers in full bloom in no time!

If you just want to wind down, play games and relax, or even come in to just chat about games, come to gaming club! The first date will be next Monday, June 24th from 2:30 PM until 6 PM. Anyone is allowed to come in and play any time during those hours.
If you are not a member you may sign up to be one on the spot.
Members are allowed to bring their own console, consoles that will be available will be anywhere from Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. Games brought are the responsibility of the people bringing them, any damage is not liable by the club or the school. You must keep your devices to where you feel safe, and play them as such. You are required to bring your own controller if you bring a console or desire to play on PC with it. If you can, please bring an extra controller for whatever console you are playing, or if you have a controller and someone else is bringing a console, please do bring such. Again, you are liable for your own equipment, and taking care of it is your responsibility.
NO FOOD OR DRINKS ALLOWED IN THE GAME ROOM. Treat ECPI’s equipment with the utmost care, as they have graciously let the club happen/play.

I made this account months ago but was afraid to commit to being vulnerable, sharing more about my career, my challenges, and how I’m recommitting to making time for moments of purpose and joy. After some challenging situations at work over the past few weeks, I realized that every story is unique and has the potential to feel relatable to someone else. When in Doubt, Use Positivity to See Your Way Out! Tips to Attract Positive Energy.
Finding the positive in any situation has always been my secret weapon. Even when things look bleak and I’m doubtful on how things will work out I always try to keep my energy level high and constructive, not destructive.
However, I know seeing the silver lining in negative situations can be hard to do and takes practice when trying to change your perception.
During times when your positive energy is on empty a good place to start is with your environment. Your environment should be set up for you to soak up and surround yourself in positivity on a daily basis.
A few things you can do immediately to help fuel back up is read inspiring books, listen to growth & development podcasts, find a good Audible, listen to upbeat music, open the blinds or curtains, sit in the sun, or hang out with positive people.
Part of the work I do with clients is I help them with this perception shift by taking a deeper look at which energy level they experience life in the most. The assessment I provide is very accurate and telling for how a person experience’s life based on their thoughts, beliefs, feelings and behaviors.
Having positive energy can elevate you to a place of empowerment giving you access to look at any situation from a perspective of choice. You have the power to decide how you want to handle your circumstance and you control how you want to respond to it.
Often times we forget who is really at the steering wheel of our thoughts and emotions. So here’s a reminder, it’s you!

3 years ago, I was working 5 days a week and stressed out cause I was also single parenting while hubby traveled for work. Running out of the office only to still be late for childcare and then logging in after they went to sleep to do more charting. 😡😩
I needed a BETTER work life balance!!
So I started to look for other revenue streams.
I found health and fitness coaching. It was slow at first, but I showed up EVERY DAY on social media. Learned all I could and started.
There are seasons where I work a bit more but on the average the HOUR A DAY I committed to this is SO worth it to have the freedom of time I now have. 😀
