is not getting angry and pushing harder. It’s also not doing anything at all. Some days it might be a walk with the dog, other days a 10 min Pilates workout. Just the act of moving, however little, is enough to make us feel like we’re showing up for ourselves and getting some much needed endorphins pumping through our tired bods. Pilates has always been my jam, my boo thang, my comfort and my sanity. It’s a highly effective way of building and maintaining a strong, fit body without causing your CORTISOL to spike, when it’s already pumping out like pressurized water from a garden hose! Excercise and Sleep
Exercise has a profound impact on sleep. The simple equation to follow when it comes to exercise and sleep is: Right intensity + Right timing = Better sleep
What does the research say:
1️⃣ Working out HARD in the morning can shift the circadian rhythm backwards, causing a negative impact on sleep at night. At the same time, if you are trying to get your body to wake up earlier, early morning exercise can be helpful. It just depends on what you goal is
2️⃣ An EASY workout (walk, light job, yoga, bike ride) for 20-45 minutes in the morning, preferably in a fasted state in the sunshine, can enhance sleep at night. This is also a great strategy to use when trying to become adjusted to different time zones when traveling
3️⃣ Do your HARD/INTENSE/ VOLUMINOUS workouts in the afternoon (finishing at least 3-4 hours before bedtime). This has been shown to increase sleep efficiency
4️⃣ If you are sleep-deprived, some studies have shown that “long and slow” ( 30-45 minute walk) or “short and fast” (15 minute circuit training) workouts can alleviate the negative effects from a lack of sleep and help you get through the day

This time of year always brings plenty of reflection. Looking back at all we did, and thinking about where we are headed next. This can also be a time where we get in our own heads BIG TIME.
We think about where we thought we would be by now, and wish we were further along. We think about the goals we set a year ago, and get frustrated that we don’t feel much closer to them. We look back at all the times we procrastinated, played small, and acted from a place of fear, and feel full of regret.
But here’s the thing: our failures get to be lessons. That feeling of shame or frustration gets to become an asset. We get to look at all the times we didn’t do what we said we would, or didn’t achieve what we know we are capable of, and find the lesson in those moments. Learn from them. Grow from them. Be proud of ourselves for moving forward from them. You’ve come so far, even if you don’t feel like it. You’ve grown so much, even if you aren’t where you thought you would be. You are always on the right path ♥️
When you take an inventory of your year, look for the lessons rather than dwell on them as failures. When you can learn the lesson you can move forward. When you learn the lesson you can let it all go. No matter what you accomplished this year you deserve to celebrate and feel proud of yourself, for both the wins and the lessons you’ve learned. You really are. Think about all of the things you’ve talked about wanting to do ‘one day’. Look back and see how far you’ve come. It’s hard when we’re IN it to realize the progress we’ve made. But if we take a minute to look back down the road we took to get to where we are today we can see just how far we’ve really come. Remember there is no ‘there’. It’s about the journey, not the destination [my note to self lately]. 🌻
All the things you’ve been through, things you’ve had to carry, let go of, that shaped you. All lead you to where you are right now. And if you’re thinking that there are things you’ve been saying you want to do but have been putting them off for tomorrow, or later, or for when X happens + it feels like a block from where you are to where you want to be, ask yourself what is the FIRST step, one small thing, that you can do right now to head in that direction? 💫

•cooked forbidden rice noodles from @lotusfoods
•thai soup from @karinejeff
•cleaned + cut kale
i cooked the noodles the night before + then threw them in the jar with the kale + cold soup + kept it in the fridge for the next day. super portable + when it’s time to eat put the whole mason jar (without the cap obviously) into a microwave to heat up. the kale will soften + noodles will heat up perfectly. it’s so good + easy. i legit never use a microwave but ya know gotta choose your battles each day so here we are. portable meals people. i’m here for it.

Heating up last night's dinner for lunch. I love leftovers, especially when I can repurposed them the next day. This is sautéed mixed vegetables with chicken and my daughter's left over pork loin. I threw everything in a hot cast iron pan greased with bacon grease, added frozen broccoli and put the lid on until the broccoli was thawed and everything was warm. In less than 10 minutes lunch was on the table. I topped my bowl off with some yummy sauerkraut.

Your body, a sacred and divine creation!
Many of us don't think and care for our body the way it really is and diserves. It is a sacred creation, a divine force of power.
We think of our body like a machine. Calories in, calories out. Is there to force it. We just feed it in any way, make it excercise till exhaustion. We make it work long hours, put it under stress and expect it to keep going on and on. Then we wonder why so many diseases and obesity.
Our body is a lot more than that. It is a lot more of a bunch of molecules and chemicals. It has a soul, it has divine energy. It is there to serve us if we treat it in the right way.
Care for it as if it was the most delicate flower. Feed it with the best fuel, water it, give it light, fresh air, let it rest. Activate it for it to be stronger but not to burn it out.
Tune into its power and its sacred, your metabolism will light up, your energy will flow. A whole new way of existence and connection will open.

Apparently it was matching shoe workout day yesterday! Another great TRX workout for the books!
🎄I called my dad today. I wanted to connect with the people I love to let them know this coming year probably won’t be better than the last.
🎄 Birthday cards will get there, but they may be late. I might have said I’d call you & I forgot.
🎄I’m building something that I cannot turn down. That I have thought of letting go because I can’t do it on my own anymore. But my spirit says PUSH.
🎄 It’s been mentally exhausting & very fulfilling & I know I’m meant to keep going.
🎄 At the same time, I apparently have this “thing” a Premenstrual Progesterone Syndrome that 5% of woman get. Yay....Which means I struggle with bursts of exhaustion, anxiety, irritability & depression.
🎄 I’ve been dealing with it in silence & dealing with it for a period of time every month.
🎄 The funny thing is I tried to focus on my weight-loss but really I needed people to help me move past the moments I need people.
🎄 I need more than just me to build an empire...more than just me to help me as a mother...
🎄 I realized I have this family who wants to support me.
🎄 I have people all around me that care about my daughter & I but I felt guilty to ask for help because I know people have their own “stuff”
🎄I’m not afraid to share my imperfect moments because it’s real, it’s human & everyone experiences life.
🎄 Everyone goes through it. That’s why I relate & love where I’ve been placed on this 🌍. .
🎄 Anyway... I’m blessed for my friends & family who are patient with my growth & are here for me even though I’m not around like I was. .
