Friends, family, and even people I meet for the first time often say things about my healthy lifestyle coming completely natural to me, and how they don’t believe they can do it. They don’t know where to start and they often feel overwhelmed with all the info out there and how to make this an actual lifestyle that feels good and comes easy. . Guess what? I always tell everyone and many of you have heard this many, many times but I’ll say it again. I’ve been there. If I can do it, so can you. My journey into health and learning actually went very slow for about 6 years. In that time I read the book skinny bitch. Anyone remember that book?! Haha. I was 17 and working at Starbucks drinking about 4 glasses of fat free milk a day. I completely stopped after that book!! 🤣🤣 I slowly started to research little things here and there. I became really into juicing when Kyle and I lived in our first little apartment together but I still ate terrible. But I was slowing making changes. Over the years I met some amazing friends who taught me so much about wellness. After I had my first son is when I started looking Into everything much more. Shortly after, we lost my step father to cancer and I was completely devastated. For a long time I put blame on myself because I thought I could save him, I thought he’d get better. I really started looking into disease and prevention after he passed . Sometimes my journey wasn’t easy. I would get overwhelmed, sad for family members that wouldn’t change, and we didn’t always receive support with our lifestyle. It’s hard when we live in a society where food dyes, toxic products, and things like overuse of antibiotics are the norm. We always remained strong in our journey regardless of what others opinions were. This is so important 🙌🏻 . I use to eat a diet full of processed foods, used the most toxic products, and battled so many issues with food and self image. Little by little over many, many years I learned, and I made changes. Small changes add up. Acknowledge your steps to better health. Try not to focus on what hasn’t happened yet. 💜💜💜 #healingjourney #foodismedicine

Consistency = habits Consistency is something I thrive on, but also used to struggle with. Whether it’s consistency in being a good mom, friend, teacher, coach, wife.....whatever it is! I used to think if I can’t work it 1 hour a day....why do it at all. I used to think if I can’t eat perfect all day; then I’ll just start tomorrow. Guess what for years I never started!!! Check this out friends....1% change is still a change. 1% improvement consistently will yield great change!! Start with that one meal that is full of all the things we should eat. Start by not eating that cupcake at the party if you know it makes you feel bad. Start with just 5 min of working out; you will feel the difference and strive for more! Just start! Lately I have felt like I am not enough. It's strange because it's been a really long time since I have felt this way. I dropped a lot and changed much of my life to start doing what I felt called to do in this life. I keep learning, reading, listening and sharing in hopes of helping others heal their own lives. . . I suppose I just want to be as transparent as I can in this space. I never want anyone to feel as though they aren't enough- yet here I am feeling it myself. . . Im tired, exhausted and have had multiple over stimulating days all in a row. And for the healer and empath I am- this can really kill my energy. So I'm focusing on continuing. . . Today I will rest. I will care for my children and fulfill my mothering duties but other than that the focus is on myself. Drink tea, take myself out to lunch, spend time cuddling Eilee after her one year check up and making lists. Grocery lists, meal prep lists, to do lists, school work lists, business plan lists and most important of all a list of all I have accomplished so far in this life and a list of all the things I am grateful for. . .. When we are tired is the best time to set into our focus. Re-examine our intentions. Train our brains to be grateful among the waves and still in the eyes of chaos. These are lessons to always hold near . . . I am enough. . . Today, just as much as any other day. And so are you my friend. What lists are you making today?

I recently had a client ask me if soups were healthy. Well, like anything, I said “they can be.” Watery soups filled with lots of veggies and legumes are your best bet for a healthy soup. They can actually aid in weight loss because of their low calorie density, and the fiber and protein available if lots of veggies and various types of protein (plant based or otherwise) in them. That being said, they can still have high levels of sodium (salt), so when making try to limit the amount of salt added. Creamy soups, on the other hand, are usually not a healthy option - albeit delicious at times! _____________________________________________ My soup above is a borscht made with garden veggies including beets (including their greens), potatoes, carrots, onions, beans, as well as beef and beef stock. I got an amazing new client to coach! As soon as she said this statement, I knew it would work! Yes and amen, sister! I saw her potential. I knew she was ready to thrive. She’s already listening to her body. Reaching the “I just want to feel good” mindset, is a huge part of the battle. Placing the internal, over the external, is so vitally important when it comes to wellness. •••••• The thing about getting older and being blessed with a slew of loved ones around you to care for, is that you finally know what you truly want out of life. You know your why! In your 20s, you are grasping at straws a bit. You are fumbling here and there. You are to busy chasing answers instead of asking questions. You are looking in the mirror for your worth and value. But, after you’ve lived some hard life, you become so much more aware and appreciative of the season you’re in and the quality of fruit you want to produce. You skip over those superficial things in favor of the deep, lasting, and meaningful stuff. You go for raw and real, beautiful and pure. Ayer, al plantear la similitud entre alimentarte con comida y nutrir tu lado espiritual, gente cercana me dijo “¡Ay, no te metas en religión!” Quisiera empezar por tumbar ese tabú: planteemos Espiritualidad como tu conexión con lo que sea que entiendas sagrado. . Para algunos se trata de la naturaleza, para otros el universo, para otros la figura tras una religión organizada, etc. Si estudiamos un poco de cada corriente, encontraremos el hilo conductor entre todas, el amor, y podremos observar que podemos cultivar vivir desde esa plataforma poniendo atención a algunas cosas básicas: • Presencia • Mis Deseos vs Dejar ir • Agradecimiento . ¿Qué pasaría si sacas a diario un momento contigo mismo para contemplar cómo estás en estos temas en tu vida? Un ratito para estar Presente y Ser, en vez de enfocarte todo el día solo en Hacer para Tener. Unos minutos para observar qué tanto de tu pensar gira alrededor de Deseos o cosas que quieres conseguir, para dar paso a fluir con el resultado que llegue, siempre y cuando hagas el trabajo que entiendas necesario. Y un espacio para darte cuenta de que tienes mucho - cosas, gente, experiencias - y simplemente agradecer su presencia. . Wat mij opvalt is dat mensen het ontzettend lastig vinden om dingen los te laten.🤔⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ik wilde dit met iedereen delen omdat het je kan #inspireren .😊️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Mensen blijven vasthouden aan alles op een bepaald tijdstip doen, aan praten en denken over waar ze vandaan komen en wat ze doen. Maar ook aan bepaalde #overtuigingen die ze niet altijd verder helpen.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Dat is jammer want juist als je kunt loskomen van bijvoorbeeld die ene moeilijke taak of dat gesprek met een collega, krijg je de ruimte om op een nieuwe manier naar de situatie te kijken. PIZZA CON BASE DE POLENTA Una muy buena opción para variar la pizza tradicional es hacerla con base de polenta. Que además es libre de gluten 👌🏼 y queda risiquisima 😋. Es suuuuuper simple y podemos ponerle el topping que más nos guste. Como la hacemos? 🍕Precalentamos el horno a 180 grados y enmantecamos una fuente. 🍕Cocinamos la polenta. Yo la hice mitad agua mitad leche de coco. Una vez que esté lista, la esparcimos sobre la fuente. Cuidando que no quede muy finita para que no se rompa después. 🍕Llevamos al horno por aproximadamente 15 minutos o cuando veas que se empieza a endurecer. 🍕Sacamos del horno y cubrimos con fetas de queso mozzarella. Este paso es opcional y lo podes obviar si preferís sin quesos. 🍕Volvemos al horno hasta que el queso se derrita. 🍕Cortamos las pizzetas de tamaño y forma que nos guste o si no podemos dejar una gran pizza. Esto depende de la ocasión, si la queremos tipo picada o plato principal. 🍕Agregamos los toppings que más nos gusten. En mi caso arme dos. ☝🏼Opción 1: rucula, tomates cherries y nueces. ☝🏼Opción 2: cebolla y espinaca salteada con hongos y queso azul. . Queda riquisimaaaaaaa y podes armarla de lo que más te guste. Como siempre digo es una buena opción también para chicos. . Correlation does NOT mean causation. . There's a lot of hype around a ketogenic diet (high fat, moderate protein, very low carb) and eating a lot of animal foods. . 1) the ketogenic diet is not a high-protein diet. 2) the nonsense coming from these people saying eating animal foods, especially whole eggs, is toxic to the human body comes from correlation studies, if backed by anything. . This simply means the studies looked at a random group of people and correlated who ate animal foods to who died at whatever age or got sick. . This doesn't exclude whether or not the person was an alcoholic, ate processed foods every day, was addicted to sugar, smoked, was sedentary, what source and quality the animal foods were, how much protein they ate a day, and so on. . On the contrary, there's an abundance of studies using control studies showing eating a proper ketogenic diet or quality animal foods in optimal amounts does not cause harm to the body and in fact it can help people with a plethora of issues. . I personally follow a ketogenic diet with a focus on plenty of organic, non-starchy veggies followed by plenty of healthy fat, quality sources of moderate amounts of protein, and making sure to get enough sodium (salt) in my diet. . I have been learning more and more to question studies leading people to saying irrational things like keto or animal foods make you die sooner. P.S., you can follow a vegan ketogenic diet, it's just very difficult and costly. . Stay open minded, love yourself, do your research, and reach out for support. 💚✌️ . One of my favorite go-tos, smoked salmon, cucumber, dill, and pitas chips! I treat myself to this satisfying snack usually once a month or so, and here are a few tips that go along with it: 1. I always make my own pitas chips. It is nearly impossible to get store bought chips or crackers that are actually healthy, as they usually contain extra salt, sugar, enriched flour, and artificial flavors. How to make your own: Take a small 100% whole wheat pita and cut it into tiny triangles (the smaller the pieces the more you'll have!). Place on a baking try and drizzle on a tiny bit of olive oil and a dash of Himalayan sea salt. Bake for 12 minutes or until crispy. This complex carb is delicious and nutritious! 2. If you're going to use cream cheese, use a small amount (1 TBSP) of a low fat version. I use the low fat herb and garlic flavor from @lovemyphilly. 3. Put it on a plate and don't overeat the carbs and the meat. This picture displays a generous portion for 2 people. 4. Don't be shy with the veggies! 🥒🥒 1 cup of cucumbers contains a mere 16 calories along with plenty of nutrients. Enjoy in moderation! 😊

There are “good carbs” and “bad carbs” and extremists on either end. # Do you really want to live in a world where fruit, potatoes, cake, and bread are banned and considered the enemy? 🍰 # Sounds like radicalization to me. # In case you aren’t aware, the battle of the bulge breaks down as follows: 👇 1. The really bad guys are sugary, refined carbs: candy, cake, sugar, and soda. 🥤 2. The somewhat-less-bad guys are things like bread and rice. Still really bad, but not “evil” like sugar is. 🍚 3. Then come the starchy vegetables and fruit like white potatoes and bananas and carrots and grapes. The radicals believe that stuff will still kill you because of the high sugar content. 🍌 4. God is not a controller, a planner, an organizer of events. God is not someONE, but rather someTHING, and I really think that whether we call it “God” or not— we all know this “current” in some shape or form.⚡️ . And we need it. We NEED to believe in something larger than ourselves. I posted briefly about this on my story during my bike ride🚲 this morning & it’s been heavy on my mind lately. . I don’t go to church.⛪️ I don’t have a bible.📖 I don’t sit cross-legged & chant or drop to my knees & fold my hands before bed at night. 🌟But I do believe in God, and I think believing in & tapping into that electric current is necessary for each of us.⚡️ . Sometimes, this is me with God. Other times, it is when I am completely immersed in joy & the company of others. Connecting to God takes on many forms: prayer, meditation, self-care— and even each of those looks different for each of us. . It doesn’t matter what you call it or what you do— it just matters that you connect (frequently) to that which is greater than you.🛐🕉☯️

Do you know what a truly balanced meal looks like? When I say balanced, i mean a meal that will give your body the nutrients it needs to feel satiated for at least 3 hours (depending on the size of the meal). ⠀ ⠀ The key is to make sure you’re getting enough protein, healthy fats and fiber - I find this is especially important with breakfast. You may have heard this before, but breakfast is literally breaking the fast - the 8+ hours without food while you slept. You can think of breakfast as your opportunity to really reset your body and set your metabolism up for the entire day. Getting enough protein, healthy fat and fiber in the morning makes your stomach and brain happy, and makes it easier for you to continue this trend all day. 🙌🏼⠀ ⠀ You’ll stay satiated until lunch - without having to reach for that energy bar, coffee or unhealthy snack by 11am! Make sure your plate is packed with veggies (cooked and raw) and don’t skimp on the fats! 🥑⠀ ⠀ Try adding raw almond butter and a high quality protein powder to your smoothie or oatmeal, or eat something that packs it all in one like pasture raised eggs + kale sautéed in coconut oil (one of my personal faves). ⠀ ⠀ If you don’t already eat this way, try it and see how much different you feel! A beautiful Tuesday it’s shaping up to be! I had a lovely early morning and I hope you did too. My morning began with a 6 minute ice-cold shower , followed by certain working-in energizing exercises to stimulate my parasympathetic nervous system, and thirty-minutes of PLAY. Play, well play for me this morning was a form of healing art. When we do healing art, or play art, we are only about expressing ourselves without any need to defend, meet expectations or worry about what others think. This allows us to stay in our (yin) nature, (yin) nature improves digestion, elimination, sleep quality, immune function, and it’s FREE! Now my whole body feels rejuvenated and ready for the beautiful day that lies ahead.

What's your biggest fear when it comes to writing a book?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Mine was always the fear that people would hate my book. I was terrified that I'd rack up a bunch of one-star reviews. I was scared that word was spread that my book was just terrible. What if people wrote to Amazon and asked for their money back? What if they thought I didn't know what I was talking about?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Luckily, none of those things ever happened. But my fear also showed me that I was focusing on the wrong thing. I was afraid that my book wasn't perfect. (News flash: no book ever is.) I was afraid that people weren't going to like it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here's why I was wrong:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⭐ I knew my audience. I'd spent a lot of time with people who were my ideal readers. I knew what they wanted (and what they needed, even if it wasn't what they wanted). I knew what motivated them. I knew what they were struggling with. And, I knew how to solve their problems.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⭐ I wrote a book that would HELP them. Because I knew my audience, I understood that they were busy. They didn't care about fluff or reading about a bunch of stuff that wouldn't make them better runners. They needed my book, Yoga for Runners, because they needed a quick guide to get them the results they wanted (better flexibility, improved muscle soreness) and the results they needed (reduced injury risk). And I GAVE that to them in my book.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Are you serving your reader? Are you helping your reader? Cherry Hot Pepper Poppers 🌶 . I love peppers although the hot ones scare me a bit. But, these little cherry hots were just so cute that I had to try them. Also, I was told they were milder than jalapeños. I was a little nervous so I only tried a few. I stuffed them with some delicious @miyokos_kitchen mozzarella and baked. . They were so good! A little spicy but a good spicy. The cheese was amazing! It melted and tasted just like mozzarella. 😋 . I definitely will make these again!! 😍 . . . . .

More than often we are consumed with pleasing others more than ourselves. ⁣ ⁣ We live up to the expectations of others. What they want us to be when we “grow up” or when we should get married or how we should be acting. ⁣ ⁣ We never fall in love with what we need to be focusing on...which is ourselves! ⁣ ⁣ Ask yourself these questions. Do you truly love who you have become? Do you love your career or your path that you have taken in life? Do you long for a better mindset or drive to work on your fitness more than you are now? Do you wish you would give more time to yourself? ⁣ ⁣ I asked myself these questions about a year or so ago and all my answers led me to a direction for better self care and love. I sold my home, started homeschooling my son - for reasons that were necessary at that time. I decided to dive deep down and tackle my mental health issues head one. We, fortunately, were able to move out of a town that was not healthy for my family to live in any longer - jobs can drain you.
