The fundamental rule of losing fat is to be in a negative energy balance. This means you have to eat less calories than you burn. To find out how many calories you *roughly burn, multiply your bodyweight in pounds by 14. I recommend starting with a 10-15% deficit. ⠀ 🏋🏻‍♂️Lift weights 3-5x per week. Strength training is an excellent form of exercise to maintain a healthy metabolism and maintain muscle mass. ⠀ 😴Get Quality sleep. This is so important, and it’s the hardest one to do. Make it a priority to get 6-9hrs of sleep. ⠀ 😊Be Patient! Fat loss is not linear. Trust the process and focus on what you control! You can’t control the scale, so stop focusing on it. ⠀ 💪Consistency over perfection. There’s no such thing as the perfect diet. Consistency is key. ⠀ 🏃‍♀️Do some cardio! #Chipotle is one of my absolute favorite stops for a quick Keto-friendly lunch. The flavors are simple, fresh and delicious. Very basic protocol here — avoid tortillas, chips, rice and beans. You’ll likely want to order either a burrito bowl (no rice/beans) or a salad. Fortunately, there’s a lot of great stuff at Chipotle for us ketopians! Meal Ideas: My Go-To: Barbacoa burrito bowl with no rice/beans, fresh tomato salsa, sour cream, cheese and guacamole (765 calories, 54g fat, 18g carbs, 8.5g fiber and 40g protein) 6 Net Carbs Chicken salad (no dressing), with tomatillo-red chili salsa, sour cream, cheese, guacamole and romaine lettuce (665 calories, 46g fat, 16g carbs, 8g fiber and 42g protein) 8 Net Carbs Burrito bowl, no rice/beans, with chicken and steak, sour cream, cheese (550 calories, 30g fat, 4g carbs, 1g fiber and 61g protein) 3 Net Carbs Tips & Tricks: Chipotle lore says that ordering guacamole on the side often results in getting more. You can order two types of meat for the price of one. Just say, “half chicken and half steak.” Or you can ask for one serving of each, or double of one meat. THOSE BLACK & WHITE DAYS 🖤 Sometimes there’s days where we just feel down. For me, I get a consistent low mood, feel extra sensitive, self conscious and feel like everything I’m doing is for nothing. Today has been one of these days and I don’t know why- but accepting that is what gets me through. I find the best thing is to what I can do make the best of it 💪🏻For example, today I: - Made a huge breakfast and took lunch on the go so I wouldn’t worry about being hungry 🌱 - Went into town to buy a couple of things I needed to get out and about but also treated myself to a treat from Lush - Did some mindless study where I was making flashcards -Next up is a HIIT gym class with my flatmates! What I’m trying to say is don’t beat yourself up for having an off day. Rather see it as an opportunity to make the best of things, look after yourself and come out stronger 🔥🙌🏽

Hello to you, the person taking their time out to read this post. I thought I would tell you who I am and a bit about myself to start out this journey of mine. My name is Courtney. Im 25 years old, living in Auckland, NZ. I have a wonderful fiancé and two beautiful 9 month old twins. After having twins 9 months ago, I gained quite a bit of weight and have continued to gain weight after their birth now weighing the most I have ever weighed in my life. My main problem has been bad eating and probably a bit of laziness honestly as by the end of the day I'm so tired (maybe other mums or anyone really with a busy lifestyle may be able to resonate with that) that we end up just buying take out food a lot. But TODAY I am making a change, for myself. I not only want to look good but I really want to feel good because I believe it is affecting my mental health also. I will admit it is hard when there are things that can throw you off, everywhere you go. And it's hard when you don't have someone there to kind of keep you in check.. but.. I really want to reach the point where I can actually love myself, cause I need that right now. So. TODAY is the day. I am currently 90+ kgs (I don't know the exact number at the moment). My goal is to get back to about 65-70 kgs (with my wedding also being exactly a year away my goal is to reach that within a year). I guess starting this page and putting myself and my message on here will kind of hold me accountable for doing this and sticking to it. Day 374: As I was scrolling deep into my photos, I realized that I took the pic on the left exactly a year ago today! One of the most common questions that I get asked is “Did you have skin removal surgery?” I have not. But I also want to keep things 100. When you lose this amount of weight, yes there will be some loose skin. There was once a point that your body had to accommodate to the size you were before. At this point for me at 100+ lbs lost, it’s only normal. Is it something that I’m ashamed of? Nah not really. At this moment I’m okay with those parts of my body. I’m learning to love them and accept them because they are in fact part of my journey. It’s versatile, economical and provides a great way to create variety and volume in your meals. But, it’s also a high carb food. Most types of rice hover around 45 grams of carbohydrates per cup. Some types, such as white rice, are classified as a refined carbohydrate. The carbs in white rice are considered “bad carbs” because the grains are processed, removing most of their dietary fiber and nutritious components, and should be avoided. Brown rice is considered one of the most nutritious whole grains, but it’s not a good idea if you want to reach your goals on a ketogenic diet. Today marked six months from the day my life changed. I honestly don’t know where I’d be without VSG. But I can tell you that girl would have never lasted 15min on the stairmaster. Or stopped feeling self conscious taking pics or videos with my hair up. I’ve had so many NSVs that I don’t always realize all of them. I always used to park so I’d have plenty of room on the drivers side to get in/out. I constantly worried about getting in/out of booths or sitting in a questionable chair. And sometimes, I still do. Because it’s been my life for so long. But mostly, I’m free. And it’s so exciting. “Lose up to 15 pounds in 10 days.” ⠀ “30 days to a sexy 6-pack!” ⠀ How many times a day do you see marketing campaigns like this strewn across your Facebook feed, on commercials in the middle of your favorite show, or retargeted to you on a website ad? ⠀ There’s about 546782 things wrong with messaging like this, but for the purposes of keeping this rant short, I’ll just keep it to my 2 biggest pet peeves. ⠀ 1️⃣They focus solely on the aesthetic piece of becoming healthier and losing weight. Your health and body are SO much more in the grand scheme of things than just trying to contort it to some artificial societal expectation. 2️⃣They set absolutely unrealistic expectations for how long it takes to lose weight, become healthier, and see physical changes from all of your hard work. ⠀ Realistically, a rate of weight loss of 1-2 pounds per week is considered VERY good for most people, maybe a little less or a little more depending on your current body composition and other physical/genetic markers. ⠀ Even with many knowing this, I constantly see posts from people feeling distraught and like a failure when they’ve “only lost 1 pound” in a week. ⠀ NEWS FLASH: This is marketing. These companies know you want to see results quickly and that big claims like these will catch your attention, so they prey on that. Not because it’s true, but because when you want to achieve something so badly, it’s hard not to want to believe these types of claims. ⠀ Don’t let yourself be susceptible to deceitful tactics like this. One minute I’m up, the next I’m losing blood, having surgeries to remove tumours & trying to stay out of the cancer zone & save damaged organs. So when I get chances I take them and I run with it and I’m beyond grateful for that privilege. 🙏🏼❤️ __ Through each health crisis this year regardless of the country I was in @nunocostafernandes was always there, even when things were really bleak & he was visiting me in hospital, we would joke and I would say “save me a bike at @crank.dubai - I’m going to be there”. ❤️ I had no idea if it were true or not, how my body was going to be but when things are tough you’ve got to keep striving forward and have things you’re determined to make it to in order to stay positive. 💪🏼 __ And here it is @crank.dubai is opening. A place that represents Nuno and the whole team taking their chances and running with it. I started my health journey for me, but I really started it for my daughter... I didn’t want to be the mom that avoided pictures because she didn’t like the way she looked. I didn’t want my daughter to ever see me looking into a mirror self-criticizing, and tearing myself down. I didn’t want to be obsessed or controlled by own self-image. I wanted to be healthy... healthy enough to run and jump and chase. Healthy enough to have cake at my daughter’s birthday and not think twice about it. I wanted to live a healthy lifestyle... mind, body, soul, and spirit. Next week will mark Brooklyn’s first birthday, and 7 months of me actively pursuing health & wellness, and It marks 4 months of my business journey with Arbonne. Kind of the progression of my day. Breakfast: Nickle's light 35 with peanut butter, nonfat vanilla greek yogurt with Kind peanut butter granola, all sprinkled with some chia. I had light meals for lunch and dinner. Tonight I walked the pups and ended my day with over 12,000 steps. Treat tonight was a Breyers CarbSmart Fudge bar. How are those things so delicious? Last time going out to get blueberries and strawberries for the year!! The kids will definitely be missing picking them!! They always enjoyed watering the fruit, picking them and coming inside to eat them for a snack before bed!! They would wait all day for daddy to get home because they new it was time to go outside to check on the fruit!! . Usually at that time of day the bugs are awful!! They seem to bite Elle and I more then the guys!! I think it’s cause we have sweeter blood lol!! You know cause girls are always sweeter then boys😂 hahah jk!! {Part 2} I have found happiness, but I have never found my worth. So every time I get close to being that person I KNOW I am meant to be, a voice in my head tells me I'm not worthy of that and pushes me off course. . . It's time to tell that young, broken girl inside of me that I am worth choosing. I am worth putting first. I am worth taking care of. I am worthy of love, happiness, and being the person that I see in my mind when I think of me. I need to stop everything else and love me. . . This part of loving me is going to take time. This is going to be the realest & rawest post I have ever done. I hate being vulnerable to others - but I also firmly believe in being true to myself. So here it is. . . {Part 1} I have had such a deep-seeded passion for living a #wholefoods #plantbased lifestyle for over 2 years now. A lifestyle filled with a whole lot of love, light, holistic & natural living; fueled by coffee & Jesus. I can't even tell you all how much my heart has yearned to be that person. All the time. . . But instead of LIVING that life, I have been sitting on the sidelines watching that life die. I have wondered to myself almost every day for the last year why I'm allowing that person that I KNOW I was meant to be, just die. Today, I figured it out. . . I have been through some real shit in my life - sexual abuse, physical abuse, losing both of my parents in a car accident, rape, continuous verbal & mental abuse, dealing with some pretty intense things with a couple of our kids - and through all of that, I was always given the underlying message that I'm not good enough. My thoughts aren't valid. Everything wrong in my life is MY fault. I have spent the last 6-7 years fighting like hell to find happiness again. Yet, always feeling still not worthy of anything. . . I FEEL happy, for the most part. I love my kids, my husband, our dog, and the crazy life we lead. I LOVE it all and feel so blessed...except I still don't feel worthy. (Continued in next post)
