Do you ever wonder why we say, "follow your gut?" 🤔
Have you ever had a feeling about something, that later you found out was true? It happens to me all the time, and every day I learn how to better follow that God given intuition, even when logic points in the other direction.
What's cool is that there is science behind this, too! Our gut has a nervous network, the enteric nervous system, that is now being called the 2nd brain! What we feel in the gut, is also felt in the brain. When we have leaky gut, where the tight junctions allow passage of molecules that it shouldn't allow due to damage, we are also likely to get leaky brain, because the tight junctions are the SAME. This causes things like brain fog, lack of concentration, etc. 😮
We also have direct neurotransmition from the gut that can upset the brain (effect mood), just like the brain (emotions) can upset the stomach. This highlights the importance of keeping both healthy. We usually cannot control what happens, but we can control our responses, especially when it comes to the way we eat and live. Here's to wise and heathy choices, for a healthy lifestyle!
