For many of us, “de-stressing” or relaxing means zoning out in front of the TV 📺 at the end of a stressful day! This doesn’t do much to reduce the damaging effects of stress though. To effectively deal with stress, we need to activate the body’s natural relaxation response. When we do this, a few things happen:
✅Your metabolism decreases
✅Your heart beats slower and your muscles relax
✅Your breathing becomes slower ✅ Your blood pressure decreases
This doesn’t mean lying passively on the couch or sleeping 😴 but requires a mentally active process that leaves the body relaxed, calm, and focused. What is it you ask? BREATHING!!! 🧘♂️ Yep, that simple..It’s a tool that we have with us all the time and it’s FREE!!!
Abdominal breathing for 20 to 30 minutes each day will reduce anxiety and reduce ↙️ stress. Deep breathing increases the supply of oxygen to your brain and stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which promotes a state of calmness. Focussed breathing brings your awareness away from the worries in your head and quiets your mind.
Is this a part of your daily practice and if so, how has it helped?
*Swoon* 🐝 Screw a wasp though.
Bumble bees were flying around me on the back deck this morning looking for food. They seemed tired.😔
Do you catch yourself saying, on a regular basis, 🗣“I”m so stressed-out?” Chronic stress can lower your immune system response, so you’re more prone to illness 😷 , inflammation, acceleration of cellular aging, as well as a decrease in your cognitive ability 🧠 amongst other negative effects.
Stress isn't all bad. Some stress can be beneficial ✅ at times, producing a boost that provides the drive and energy to help people get through situations like exams 📝 or work deadlines. Stress over long periods of time though, can be psychologically and physically debilitating 🙇♀️ Many who experience prolonged stress are not making the lifestyle changes 💪🥑 necessary to reduce stress and ultimately prevent health problems. Improving your lifestyle and making behavioral choices are essential steps toward increasing your overall health and avoiding chronic stress. The key is recognizing 🙋♀️ and changing the behaviors that cause it, but this is not always easy to do.
Have you experienced chronic stress? What lifestyle changes/behavioral choice shave you found to make the biggest impact? Please share below ⬇️⬇️ so that others experiencing this may learn from you.

I'm a lip gloss junkie. This Transforming Duo is so cool (and brand new🎄)! The lip tint creates your own custom pink hue upon application and the crystal gloss gives it moisture and gorgeous shine. It's also infused with natural vanilla - no fake fragrance or other ickies! Which is a good thing because we do ingest some everytime we use lipstick/gloss/balm/etc.
Some people love autumn but me?! I’m a #summer
kinda gal ALL THE WAY! Give me 90 degrees, ☀️👙 🍦 and I’m a happy camper. Maybe that’s why I’m in the business of fruit? Because #fruit
🍉 elicits warm 🏝 #tropical
feelings. Don’t get me wrong, I love the changing leaf 🍁 colors but I just feel more productive when I have more daylight hours, no winter coats to schlep along or keep track of. But, like it or not, the seasons change. Just like the seasons change, people change, and when we moved to #Chicago
exactly 5 years ago today (happy anniversary to me!) I was definitely not the same person I am today. And when I started my business 4 years ago, my intentions were not the same as they are now. I think I’m some ways, it’s exciting watching how people and business grow, evolve and change - hopefully- for the better! For me, I’ve heard your feedback, taken it to heart and can’t wait to share the big changes here at Fruition soon! Have a great fall day! (But don’t forget about the tropical fruit still growing strong in here! 😉) 💕Adina
Check out our current and new highlights for our newest series: Knife Tip Tuesday’s. I’m often asked how to cut a certain fruit, what knife I use and what I recommend, tune in on Tuesdays for the answers to those questions and even more knife tips & tricks... life requires eating and unless you eat every meal out or order every meal in, you will most likely need to know how to use a knife! However, most people use them incorrectly and are therefore scared of them 😱. But really we have no need to be! Knives are our kitchen friends! Even my 5 year old has been trained to use a knife correctly!!👩👧 So, Let’s hone in and get our knife skills sharpened together. 🤪 Have a fruity day! 💕 Adina #knifeskills #sharpening #honein #fruitknives
Lemon! It's the oil of thr month with Young Living. One of my favorites! I love the smell of lemon, it smells so fresh, clean, springy. Lemon has always been a favorite smell and flavor of mine, I live lemon in my tea, lemon curd is the best thing ever, I love using lemon to clean because it smells so good!
Lemon oil has a very uplifting scent, if you catch my meaning. It almost smells happy. It is the bomb at cleaning! I use it when I just can't get the burned bits off the bottom of the pan. It tastes good in water, you can add the lemon vitality oil to any food for an extra kick. It adds a party atmosphere to any house. It can help with food cravings and weight loss. It attacks petrochemicals in your body, which can significantly lower your overall weight.
Lemon is so great! Since it is cold pressed from lemon rinds, it is not considered a "true" essential oil, which means that it has a shelf life of about one year. But you shouldn't have any problem useing it all in that amount of time. 😊
Just a little throwback.🎃🤰♥️
(Glad I'm not pregnant anymore!😆)
is face masks and farmer's market runs (👋). Sometimes it's yoga and a hot shower. Sometimes it's hot tea and a good book. Sometimes it's quality girl time over brunch. Sometimes it's a long hike in the woods. What did you do for your self today?
Your story may not resonate with everyone.
Share it anyway.
You never know who you are inspiring.
Some will tell you, some won't.
Share and don't live for applause.
You will find your people.♥️
Do you feel like you’re on a hamster 🐹 wheel, wishing you could escape the rat race? *
I’ve been reading a great book called The Happiness Track, by Emma Seppala. She argues that, as society, we're always chasing 🏃🏼♀️the future. We want to do more and be better. For example, we want to lose weight, want to be the perfect parent, want to advance in our profession. There's nothing wrong with setting goals for ourselves and having drive, but it's when we get into (OVER)DRIVE 🏎that we run into problems. Drive is positive, but in small doses.
You pay a huge price 💲for being in overdrive all the time, and it's called chronic stress. One of the definitions of stress is having to face enormous challenges 🤦♀️ while feeling you have too few resources to meet the challenge. I know when I was a full-time elementary school teacher 🔡 , I definitely felt that. There were enormous challenges within the classroom and too few resources to meet them effectively.
Are you in a profession right now where this definition rings true❓How do you deal with this stress? I’d love you to share your ideas below ⬇️⬇️ in hope that someone else can benefit.
*You are not a burden. Your story is not shameful. You do not need to stuff bad feelings down because you think no one wants to hear about them. Share and I'm certain you will connect with someone. You are not weak because you feel the whole range of human emotions. You are not annoying to ask for support. No one has their shit together 100% of the time even if it may look like it on the superficial outside. We all have layers. Keep feeling because numbing yourself is worse. Feeling is what we are designed to do - no matter how uncomfortable. Please remember you are not alone in this wild human experience. There is strength in your vulnerability.*
I didn't want to go on this walk.
I was drained but once I was outside walking against the salty breeze, I felt the energy shift inside.
I needed this! Physically, mentally... I needed nature. Whenever I feel low, nature soothes me, grounds me, and reminds me of how important the simple things are.
Yesterday was #worldmentalhealthday
and I didn't even know until I read many posts with stories about struggle. It hits me deep to see that I am not alone in this struggle and at the same time excites me that the stigma is starting to fade as more and more of us get vulnerable and share our stories. Human connection is a powerful thing.♥️ #starttheconversation #talktosomeone
It’s Mental Health Awareness Week. Yes it last longer than a day 😊and I believe it’s important to continue this conversation about the awareness of mental health. With being in the midst of a self-love series, this practice starts with an awareness about where you stand with your mental health. Before we continue a single word, I want to remind you that we are all human and it’s okay to not be okay. The only thing that is NOT OKAY, is that you are forcing yourself to suffer alone. There are people out there who get it. There are people who want to help. We are ALL HUMAN. We need breaks. We need love. WE NEED COMMUNITY. So, I encourage you, take that action step. Reach out to someone you care about & spread more love even when you don’t feel like it; especially when you don’t feel like it. #mentalhealthawareness
⚠️ PLEASE READ ‼️‼️
I’m sure some of you seen the lovely comment I got yesterday (see story if not) I really appreciate the lovely messages I got
I wasn’t even going to give any attention to it, but I think it’s important to because it happens so much on social media and can really do some serious damage to people
Part of me wants to dissect everything this person said and scream at them that they’ve got me completely wrong and prove to them that I’m a good person. But why? Why should I have to? It won’t change a thing .
I’m not going to pretend that I laughed it off and it didn’t get to me one bit. I’m human (with anxiety - we dwell and replay and cover everything up with sarcastic humour lol ), of course it got to me (meditation is powerful but it doesn’t cut feelings off lol) .
But, I’ve been on such a personal journey lately that has just made me realise how much I can’t change other people’s opinions. And what I do, is my choice and it’s absolutely enough (big step!!) .
I’m not letting one pathetic, coward who created a fake profile, undo all of my constant, daily work which takes massive amounts of effort to keep up & leaves me exhausted .
If you get any type of nasty comment, block the person, don’t get involved because they want to lure you into an argument, and please, please, PLEASE, know that you’re still the s**t, regardless of what this person says .
I will be continuing to post about mental health, animals, meditation, body image (yes that will include half naked photos - I’m trying to accept every stage of my physique & make it normality) , client transformations and anything else I want to post .
It’s taken me a LONGGG time to find & share the real me under all the conditioning and I’m not letting one person stop me now - and please don’t let them stop you
Now I know that THIS IS THE MOST CRUCIAL TIME TO STAY YOU ‼️‼️‼️
This is where positive change happens. When people are telling you not to be you, or that it’s not good enough, or that you’re fake, or that you’re wrong and you can say, no actually you’re wrong
The people that love you, know your truth
DM me if you need to vent! ❤️
Hey! Don't go yet!
I've been sharing about "better beauty" and "switching to safer" in this space without much of an explanation on what Beautycounter actually IS.
Are you curious?
I've had some folks message me for more info since learning about ingredients has expanded well beyond food and into the very products we use on our bodies each day.
Long caption alert but please bear with me🙏
First and foremost, Beautycounter is mission-based. What does that mean? We go beyond just products. Built around social activism, Beautycounter educates and advocates. We teach about the harmful and potentially harmful ingredients in skincare/beauty products (because of lack of regulation) AND we take action by making our voices heard with Congress whenever possible. Walking the walk and fighting for change - getting better beauty into the hands of everyone. 👈 This is one of the BIGGEST reasons I am incredibly proud to work with Beautycounter. I've been fighting the food industry and poor nutrition advice for years - this company completely speaks to my heart.
Secondly, Beautycounter formulates it's own products with health and safety standards that far exceed what is legally required in the US. "The Never List™ is made up of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals that we never use as ingredients in our products. This includes the over 1,400 chemicals banned or restricted in personal care products by the European Union, plus additional chemicals screened by Beautycounter and found to be of concern.
High quality, high performing makeup and skincare including products for kids and baby (hint: and sometimes men!🎄). I've been a product junkie for a long time. Even though Im minimizing things as I age, beauty products are important to me. I am at ease using anything from Beautycounter for myself and around my kids. I can't control everything my family is exposed to but Beautycounter helps with what I can.♥️
We know your day can be hectic, so we prepared healthy snacks on the go
Kissin' pumpkins & pickin' mums. Looks like fall temps will finally arrive (and stay) here in MD this weekend!🍃🍂
Excited to get back in our daily walk groove because we both need it. The muggy, buggy lingering heat has killed any outdoor mojo for me. #done
Also thinking of trying a beginner spin class... Anyone have tips???🚴♀️
It's incredibly easy for me to drown in all my responsibilities. Only go out to run errands and live around nap time, chores, food, and momming. Sometimes it's all so overwhelming I don't even want to hang out with friends because the planning and getting there feels like work. I can introvert HARD. I forget to balance fun and play with adulting and guess what? It never serves me well.
The end of this week I was feeling lowww. But getting out for a friend's baby's 1st birthday and then hiking today with another friend completely turned my mood around. My husband was big in his daddy role this week pushing me to disconnect from just being mom and reconnecting with Jess. Ya know, the individual?
I think we often forget that our social life plays a big role in our health too. That's an easy one for me to push off and I NEED my people more than I think.😉 What about you? Do you physically feel it when you don't balance play with work very well?
Just taking time out to say THANK YOU for being in this space, interacting and creating conversation around topics I share, saving posts that interest or help you, messaging with encouraging words, reaching out for more information on Beautycounter, and all around supporting what I do here.🤗
I wasn't sure how this year would pan out with having my second baby. Most of my time is devoted to momming and sleep/rest/self-care. Now that Rory is approaching 1 yr (gasp!), expect to see this space ramp up in 2019. Time for some action vs all the talk of my ideas and dreams!♥️
Welp, both kids (and I) love oysters! Yay!🎉🎉🎉
My hubs won't join the party.🙄
🐚Oysters are another super food loaded with micronutrients (minerals and vitamins). The star player is zinc! They are also high in vit D, B12, iron, copper, manganese, and selenium. Nom. #realsuperfood #oysters
This is so true👌
What you think about, you bring about so you may as well think positive ✅ thoughts! *
Have you seen this in action? I’d love to hear your stories ⬇️⬇️
Anxiety: a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am sure we have all felt a little anxious before a big event, or important meeting etc. Experiencing anxiety and actually having it are two completely different issues. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
People who struggle with anxiety can most likely relate when I say we get random attacks and it hinders us from completely experiencing life. Anxiety comes in the form of tears, quick breathing, feeling of discomfort and many other ways. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One moment you are fine. You are eating, reading, writing- anything. The next, you find yourself worrying about shit that doesn't even matter to anyone else. Little things like what would happen if you got sick from drinking out of a plastic water bottle you reused a few times. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sound ridiculous... But more people suffer from anxiety than you would think. I am not going to generalize this opinion, but many people whom I have come across that live with anxiety would never tell you that shit. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You notice it with little habits, quick cancellations, abrupt endings to conversations. It is hidden in plain sight. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We have brought forth attention to anxiety as a disorder, but we still do not respect it. We are the change, and I feel it is necessary to advocate for those who have anxiety because we might not always want to speak up. It can be uncomfortable. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What I ask is this: treat your peers with respect and be genuine. You don't know what they are struggling with or what is going on behind the scenes. Don't love them despite their flaws, love them because they have flaws as WE ALL DO.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Then we have to deal with Jan-Mar🙄
NEW SERIES ALERT: I’m excited for this one. Particularly because this extended series has been pulling at my heart for some time now. Without giving it all away, the Freedom Series is a 2 subjects series, with topics I feel it’s time to talk about in clarity. Self-love is a hot topic in the wellness world. But from social media’s perspective it’s “treating yourself” with vacation weekends, partying, and spa days. In reality self love does not START what you do for yourself but what you think about yourself. How you see yourself overflows into HOW THE WORLD SEES YOU. For us to effectively self love we have to learn how to love ourselves period. For the next four weeks Every Body Speaks Life will be sharing the basics on how to effectively self love. That way you can finally learn once and for all how much of a radical badass you are!
Part 2 topic debut coming soon ❤️
While this oversimplifies it a bit (I'd throw something about gut health in there too🤓), the premise is incredibly true. Healthy skin manifests from what's going on INSIDE. While safe, non-toxic, quality skincare and makeup are important, they are only a part of the solution to great skin. Ignoring lifestyle factors while hoping products "fix" skin woes is what we call "the bandaid approach." Just as it's said:
you can't out exercise a poor diet
nor can you rely on beauty products to counter poor lifestyle habits.
They help, sure, but they work even better when combined with a healthy gut, nutrient dense diet, plenty of rest, and managed stress.
Many skin issues are rooted in nutrient deficiencies, imbalanced hormones, and gut dysbiosis. When lifestyle is adjusted, health issues improved (or even healed), the skin tends to naturally improve (no overnight fix). Safe skincare then takes it the extra mile!
Ahem, like Beautycounter.🤩

This is @eatbanza
chickpea pasta with spinach, tomatoes, chicken, olive oil, nutritional yeast, and some spices. Deliciously creamy without any dairy.
THIS IS THE TRUTH. You are not your pant size. Being healthy and, most importantly, healthy minded is a top priority but that does not equal how big or small you are.
Love yourself, be kind with yourself, respect yourself.
If you feel like you have a negative relationship with food, whether you deprive yourself or you over indulge, I strongly encourage you to seek help. There are so many people who struggle with their relationships with food and their bodies. You are not alone 💗

Sardines aren't sexy or popular. But they are nutrient POWERHOUSES (like egg yolks and liver - other unsexy foods). One can has loads of Omega-3s, over 350mg of calcium, iron, B12 and B6, 23g protein, and vit D3. Since they are small and low on the food chain, you don't have to worry about mercury like in bigger fish. 🐟 Can't get past the oil and stronger-than-tuna taste? Flavor them up! I put mine on a gluten-free cracker with cashew cream "cheese." SO GOOD!
I've been sharing mine with Rory and she mashes them up. She knows what she needs. Babies are so intuitive - something we tend to lose with our crazy lifestyles and eating practices. They make it well known when they're hungry and stop when they are full. They avoid anything bitter because in nature, that may indicate poison. Breastmilk is sweet. The intense desire for sweet gradually reduces as we age partly because we have less taste buds. Genes also play a role in how bitter something can taste to different people. And smell. And mouth-feel. It's complex and a reminder on how incredibly different we are!
Looking forward to spending 4 days with these beautiful, strong women next week!
Something magical ✨happens when you have a group of like minded, positive women who build each other up, together for the weekend💃🏻
I’m certain my cup will be overflowing when I return 💗
You know the saying, “you can’t always get what you want but you get what you need?” ...Well...The Rolling Stones called it alright! 🤓
Doing a high intensity workout or lifting heavy weights when you’re so tight you can barely move may be what you want/love doing but ....it’s not what your body needs to stay healthy and pain free nor what I’ll give you if you’re tight as hell.
A well rounded program that includes stretches and mobility exercises are really important for injury prevention. I know they’re not as fun but it’s essential to a healthy body....and I should know because I loveeeee an intense workout with sweat dripping, muscles bulging and feeling that burn...unfortunately, I have to take that same advice and refocus a bit on my mobility, Eldoas for spinal health and myofascial stretches due to past accident and injuries. Ugh....no fun but worth it to maintain the level of fitness I want with each passing year....because for sure anti-aging includes muscle and spinal health so don’t forget your stretches and mobility exercises. 💪🏻💖😊 Happy Friday all!!! 😘

My two relationships in adulthood to be honest were extremely toxic and unhealthy. I mean absolutely no harm or bad ill towards my exes - let me explain. .
I’m sure you’ve heard of the saying “we accept the love we think we deserve” nothing describes why people stay in shitty relationships better than that.
We accept these mediocre relationships because we aren’t sure if we can even have anything better. Deep down we believe we aren’t worthy of something incredible.
The best thing for both people involved is to let it go. You are not only stopping yourself from living and loving at your highest level but you’re also holding that other person back. You and your partner deserve true inner happiness. .
I’ve witnessed first hand with my sons father that people need to blossom on their own without the pre judgements based off their past or whatever the case is. .
Staying in a toxic relationship gives no push to be better, to learn to love yourself first etc .
It may seem like your partner is the only toxic one but when you take a moment to reflect - if you are accepting a toxic relationship there is work you get to do as well. Why are you accepting what you are accepting? .
Put yourself first, love yourself first, realize you are worthy of extraordinary love and then allow a partner who compliments you to tag along 😉
I share my experience openly and honestly in hopes to empower at least one person. Life is too short to live in mediocracy.
Have you ever counted calories and given up???? 🙅♀️ Let's just be honest, counting calories is a PITA (Pain In the A**) 😩right? You’re busy and counting is time consuming. Sure, there are apps out there that you can plug your calories into, but you still have to calculate and plug those numbers 🔢 in.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this ⬇️
Breakfast for dinner is always a great end to a mundane Monday. #stacksonstacks
Mini gf 'nana pancakes with a drizzle of real maple syrup, bacon (duh), and @fedandfit
's Lemon-y kale (which is the most scrumptious way to eat it.)
And remember: you'll inspire those who pretend to never see you too. Keep doin' your thing, don't live for applause, head down - do the work (a lovely reminder from my guru).♥️
Habits are better than just relying on motivation (since that is fleeting) but routine can be lethal. I'm bored with food posts, trying to figure out what people might want to read/learn... Essentially bored with talking about all my fave things. Holistic health will always light my fire but there are times that things just don't flow. The creativity lags. Everything becomes mush in my head but I'm just embracing it here on the quiet side.
Lately, I've been more inspired by cleaning and purging and minimalising in ALL areas of life. What about you? Does that just come with new seasons?
