October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎗💗
An opportunity to shed light on how early detection/screening vectors towards a better prognosis and potentially save a life.
I wish to highlight the importance of monthly self-breast examination which should be done 3-5 days after menstruation, when the breasts are least tender and lumpy: for us women to be able to detect any abnormality in the breasts (such as any lump, swelling, nipple retraction, redness...) we should first get used to their natural look and feel.
It's been over a year now working in the Oncology and Radiotherapy department and there is still a whole lot of learning to occur.☢
The point of this post is to encourage anyone reading this to inform themselves on the subject. Search, read read read (from reliable sources eh), study, delve deep, learn and spread the word! Make your health on top of the priority list.
