At the #glmacmmm today (henna Meetup) the theme was to challenge the artist by asking for your favourite henna design. So @reenamak.artist challenges me with this @mehndikajoeyhenna henna. I’m glad she picked a design that took me out of my comfort zone as I learnt loads whilst doing this:
1) think about placement of the cuff and keeping the band straight and balanced (mine went wonky). 2) be mindful of the shape you’re creating when you do grids.... I should have crossed the lines at right angles to make squares, not diamonds). 3) centralising the pattern on the back of hands... even though the pattern is not symmetrical it needs to be centralised down the hand so I should have thought about how the petals would fit in.
4) doing something that is not your signature style is a great way of practicing and building up a bigger arsenal of patterns you can call upon when required.
