The Philadelphia 76ers trade for Zhaire Smith from the Phoenix Suns on Draft night was a really smart deal on their side. Smith fills a need on the perimeter as an athletic and tough defender and head coach Brett Brown believes in him as a shooter. Also, they got a 2021 unprotected 1st round pick from the Suns via Miami. That’s going to be a very valuable asset in future trades. #phildelaphia #76ers #zhairesmith #heretheycome #NBADraft #Gettinbuckets
Philadelphia 76ers offseason preview:
Free agents: J.J. Redick, Amir Johnson, Marco Belinelli, Ersan Ilyasova
The Sixers will be heavily involved in the LeBron James sweepstakes as they’ll try and lure him to Philadelphia and help them take another step forward. Redick has said in the past that he’ll take a pay cut to remain in Philly and they’d like to have him back. This is an important offseason for the Sixers as they look to make a jump to title contention. #phildelaphia #76ers #heretheycome #offseasonpreview #Gettinbuckets
Draft Analysis: Landry Shamet (26th pick)
Shamet is and will be a perfect player for the Sixers, especially if Marco Belinelli leaves in free agency. Although a bit of a reach at 26, Shamet is described by some analysts as the best shooter in the draft. I think if Marco leaves, he’s the perfect replacement. He won’t be taking dumb shots. He is 6’5 like Marco. He won’t be a complete liability on defense like Marco was. He also is a solid finisher. The Sixers clearly looked for shooting in this draft, and Shamet defines that. He hit 44% of his 3s in his 3 year college career, and looks to take that with him to the NBA level. Shamet is 21.
👀 Whether they are clearing space for LeBron or another player is unknown, but with the high possiblity of Paul George resigning with the Thunder and Kawhi being traded to an Eastern Confrence team, LeBron will have nobody with him in Los Angeles if he chooses to do to the Lakers. So the possibility of him coming to the Sixers or another team is becoming even more likey. Many people have also pointed out that it may be his family that is holding him back from Philly. They would be more comfortable in LA or Cleveland. Comment your thoughts below⬇️

Draft Analysis: Zhaire Smith (16th pick)
Do I think Bridges is better and fits better? Yes. Do I think this was a bad move? No. The Heat have a horrible future, the 2021 first rounder could be a huge asset for a future trade. And although he’s a bit of project, Zhaire has a lot of upside and could be a serviceable piece for the Sixers in the future. He’s only 19 (Bridges is 22). Smith fits Brett Brown’s system, he’s a great defender and THRIVES in transition offense. The Sixers were a top 3 team in pace and defense this past season. Zhaire can also hit 3s when open, going 18/40 last year. I’m sad that I don’t get to watch Mikal play for the Sixers, but honestly I’m very excited to see what Zhaire has to offer to this team.
