5 steps to be succeed as a high-performing athlete and human being:
1. Be possibility driven.
There are two types of people- Those who train consistently towards a race to test their potential, and those who have a coach/friend set a race deadline so they are forced to do the work (With the presence of a deadline, these people will always do the work). Do you set the bar 5 steps ahead of where you are to strive for the next level? Or do you play catch-up to a bar that's already ahead of you? Being possibility-driven, where you're driven by your potential each day, rather than only doing things to reach a certain standard, is the attitude that separates high-performers from those who do bare minimum.
2. Have perspective
First world problems is a real thing, and is the killer of fulfilment. You have to do 8 training sessions a week? - Many who cannot use their legs would only dream of being able to train. You have to do that on top of a full time job? - The unemployed/unskilled would gladly take your job from you, and the roof over your head too. Life is hard? - Your great-grandparents lived through the great depression and war, you're living in the BEST era yet.
3. Surround yourself with people who you aspire to be like.
A person's environment will dictate their progress and performance. Look at the people you spend most of your time with - Are you the average of them in terms of your health, training, career, finances, lifestyle, overall fulfilment? You want to be a high-performer? Start hanging out with them!
4. Self-accountability for all the good AND bad times.
People will always take ownership for their own success, but if they fall, it's always the fault of their equipment, their partner, the weather, their coach etc. If you take self-accountability, you can't NOT succeed as there is always SOMETHING more you can do.
5. Believe in your limitless potential
Someone's belief in their own ability will determine their levels of motivation to do the training and other requirements to achieve a big training goal. BELIEVE in yourself, as your potential is limitless and only waiting for you to fulfil it ✨
