When I started travelling solo, I had no intentions of turning it into a career. My travels began to just fulfil a childhood wish, to travel on certain railway routes for I've always loved travelling by trains.
So it wasn't a surprise that back in September 2012 after returning from a brief, but first solo trip, to Nainital, I immediately decided to plan a trip to Shimla because I wanted to travel in the toy train.
Back then I had a cheap point and shoot camera, which I never used much because I wasn't too sure about my photography skills, so I just sat through my first toy train journey from Kalka to Shimla with a big grin on my face and staring at the mountains in wonder.
It was a rare joy for me back then, to see mountains, and that too while sitting in a train, which made it an absolute delight.
I did try to click as many pictures as I could of the Shimla-Kalka route, but out of them only 1-2 made it to my photo albums on Facebook, but I did promise myself to return to Shimla with a better camera and capture these beauties once again.
And I did so this time while travelling to Spiti during February.
I was roaming around Shimla with @akshitttaaa
, before she asked me how I'd be going back to my hotel and I said by train, knowing that it'd take almost thrice the time to reach my hotel.
And then we ran down the mall road, to be in time for the last train that left at the time of sunset, but we ended up reaching a little earlier at the station, thus giving me ample amount of time to take out my 'better camera' and finally click few pictures of Shimla-Kalka toy trains after almost six years.
