Super pumped for my latest idea: Carbon duplicate report cards for my players/coaches to use during practice. Why? It enables the coaches to give quick feedback to the players assessing how they’ve done that day and jot down reminders, cues, and drills they can do to continue the learning process. The player and parents keeps the top copy, staff keeps the yellow carbon copy so we can track our teaching and use for follow-up and monitoring. I’m going to try with my young guys and consider using with my high schoolers. Notice the terminology reflects our commitment to being obsessed with improvement and training our athletes to truly develop a growth mindset and to see opportunity in every practice.
We just visited Hawaii and my son was having a full on panic attack after going into the ocean 🌊. So, I took him out and resorted to the same mental skills we train at #Hittingwod classes:
1) control his breathing 💨
2) make simple, measurable goals 🎯 (breathe & keep his goggles on) and
3) visualize 🧠👀 (being in the ocean, seeing 🐠, feeling the 💦, etc.
After spending about 10 minutes on those skills, we gave it another shot and he nailed it. Mental skills work.
Look at the similarities between hitting and pitching. Donaldson’s attack position is almost identical to Eovaldi’s power position. Needless to say, be athletic in everything you do so you can be explosive in all your movements. #elevateandcelebrate#swingup#hittinginstructor#hitnukes
